WildBillKelsoe Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Howdy, partners! I'm trying to understand how the Merlin engine works, as in what stages does each part work ( I know they all work together). I want to create an animation for each engine part. I don't have capacity for 3ds max (if I would, I'd hit turbosquid and dL the merlin model there). So far, the manual comes short in describing the merlin part operation, and to understand the aircraft, which is all about the 66 engine, I have to put the merlin in layers, and each part animated with fuel, oxygen, exhaust, and oil flow, let alone temperature changes in operation and cowl influence on the entire intercooler process. But in all fairness, the A2A 80 page manual kickstarted this fire in me, at least I (who had no knowledge of the prop engine, let alone the fancy terms used, got a basic understanding to each engine part job, which augmented by wikipedia. I intend to pursue the project to the finish. I have these in mind; Adobe illustrator Sketchbook Pro Photoshop elements 8.0 Serif DrawPlus X5 If you have something specific, shoot. winz Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 You want to model engine operation, yet you don't want to use a modelling SW. The other option is even harder/much more expensive - CAT SW. Solidworks mentioned, or Catia, or similiar. Sorry, but I'm afraid 2d painting tools wont cut the deal in what you are trying to achieve. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
