fbass Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I have multiple issues with serial numbers and product activations. I posted a trouble ticket and a post in the general forums. Thus far, no answers. What is the point of asking for help (developers or users) if no one even bothers to answer. I can understand users not responding. I have a feeling a lot of you are having problems. What I don't understand is why no answers from the developer. None of these issues were present until DCS World was updated. Now, nothing I have (all aircraft) works - at least from an access point of view. Suggestion - maintain a database where you collect every user, every serial number, every activation code, and associate all of that to each of your products. In that fashion, a user can look up what the correct codes are and apply them to specific products the user has purchased. Surely that can't be too difficult. Frank

EtherealN Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Please try removing your registry entries. Note that it does require activation of all modules that are installed. If you suspect there is a problem with one of the aircraft installs, such as incorrect install between Upgrade and "Full" version of BS2, you can remove that aircraft manually from the Mods folder inside DCS World. fbass Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 Product Activation Update: I managed to get my P-51 and A-10 registered with the system. I followed some instructions in a post on the site which described steps involved with deleting keys in the Windows registry. Now when I access both of these aircraft DCS World performs properly. However, I'm still stuck with non-acceptance of the serial number on the Black Shark 2. I deleted the key associated with this aircraft but it made no difference. There appears to be a mismatch of some sort between the stored serial number and the one I have.
PeterP Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Here is a guess - may sounds bogus at the first look - but worth a try before searching you registry for a entry that maybe isn't there at all: Install your old BS2 1.1.1.1 again and run the \DCS Black Shark 2\bin\protect.exe and deactivate it. Than there should be no serial registered for BS2 any-more.
EtherealN Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Note that there are two Black Shark 2 modules. If you have a full license for Black Shark 2, use this download: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=12&end_pos=136&lang=en If you have upgrade license for Black Shark 2, use this download: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=13&end_pos=136&lang=en Serial numbers for one does not work on the other. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
cults Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Hi. Had this issue last 2 days. What worked for me was. Deleted/uninstalled dcworld completely. Installed dcworld. Installed CA and then ran it. Installed P51 and then ran it. Same for Warthog. For me The only Activation it asked for was CA. The others Must have been activated from previous install. Anyways this worked for me.
fbass Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 EtherealIN, That may have been true before the new version of DCS World. However, the only download I have is the full installer. The various upgrades would not work with the new DCS World so I had to start over with installs for DCS World, P-51, Black Shark 2, and the A-10. So, I don't know which serial number I have (full or upgrade). Note: At one time I did upgrade to Black Shark 2 (from 1) but that was before the new DCS World module program.
fbass Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 cults, This is exactly what I did. When the new DCS World module came out, I installed all my aircraft and re-installed everything from scratch using the new (and smaller) individual aircraft modules. I managed to get my P-51 and A-10 back up and running by deleting the associated keys in the registry and re-activating those aircraft. But, the Black Shark 2 serial number will not take even though I deleted its key before trying.
159th_Viper Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) However, the only download I have is the full installer..............Note: At one time I did upgrade to Black Shark 2 (from 1) but that was before the new DCS World module program. There's your problem: As EtherealN said, you need the BS2 Upgrade module for DCS World as opposed to the full BS2 module. As per your post above, you say However, the only download I have is the full installer. You need the upgrade installer. In addition, prior to attempting to activate the upgrade module to DCS World, you need to have BS1 installed and activated. EtherealN Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 EtherealIN, That may have been true before the new version of DCS World. It is still true. Note that the links I posted were for the DCS World modules, not v1.1.1.1 standalones. fbass Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 I completely deleted all of my software. I searched the Windows registry and deleted every reference to "DCS." I downloaded all the current DCS World and aircraft packages. I reinstalled all my World and aircraft using the keys I was given. DCS World still crashes. The program loads, the aircraft selection menu displays, a menu set for whatever aircraft you selected displays, and then if you select any entry - such as "Training," DCS World crashes.

DCS world doesn't crash if you have activation issues, could you please explain exactly what happens? Also run a dxdiag and save all information as a file and post it here.
fbass Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Is someone out there This is not an activation issue. All of these issues occur after activation.DxDiag.txt
sobek Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 This is not an activation issue. All of these issues occur after activation. Hmm, nothing suspicious in there at first glance. Could you supply the event monitor logs from the crash? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
fbass Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Is Someone out there? I'm not sure I executed this event log properly but here are two files associated with the times this evening that I attempted to access DCS World aircraft - all three that I have - and the events taking place afterwords.Event Monitor Log - DCS World Access.zip
fbass Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) It seems my problems have worked themselves out. Perhaps this newest update fixed the problem - I hope so. I have my fingers crossed. PS This auto-update process is very bad. While it is nice to have the feature, it is not nice that it takes all day to download and update - and I have a VERY fast pipe. The download speed was in the neighborhood of 20kb/sec - in other words - a fast turtle. Edited May 4, 2013 by fbass
PeterP Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I wasn't able myself to update at a satisfying speed for two days after the 1.2.4 release- well this changed at thursday dramatically and I got a 2mbit download stream instead of 20KB average like before. Yes, sometimes things need time - even in our culture that demands always a 'now' ! ;)
EtherealN Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 We are looking into implementing support for Bittorrent in the future, to help solve this, and the recent problems also helped identify some bottlenecks in our current infrastructure. This will be fixed.
