Hi,

is there any way I can create a burning aircraft wreck / an area burning?

I want to create a crash site, but the simple "unit as dead" placement looks a bit..unspectacular

You could try placing an aircraft static object on the ground, then using explosion in zone to kill it. However, the fire will only burn for a few mins.

Yes, already tried that. after a short time the fire burns out. No chance to create a black smoke effect via script?

Nope, sorry.

What is, if you use the better Fire and Smoke Mod

Don't want to use mods, only vanilla version ;)

wouldn't that be like using a mod? :music_whistling:

No, I thought about using script objects already implemented in the vanilla version, something like (pseudocode) CreateSmoke(Zone)

edit: If I use a mod, all clients flying my mission must also have the mod installed, right?

Yep. If you rely on a visual mod to do some effects in your mission your clients need the mod as well.

How about placing the static unit and some of the small static structures nearby, then place a trigger to blow one of them up with a small explosion either on time or when the player enters a trigger area and increments a flag. Then do the same for each of the other small structures on a timer until a certain condition is met.

It's messy as hell, but it might achieve what you're looking for.

not proper syntax, working off the top of my head here:

Player in Zone A, Flag 1 = True + Explode unit#1

Time since Flag 1 = 300, Explode Unit#2

Time since Flag 1 = 600, Explode Unit#3

Time since Flag 1 = 900, Explode Unit#4

Time since Flag 1 = 1200, Explode Unit#5
