SLI gtx 580 or gtx 690

i was in a computer shop the other week and they were sellings two different rigs.One was with an gxt 690 and the other one was with sli gxt 580.which rig would you choose and why?:smartass: Rig one Intel Modell Core i7, 3770K Cores 4 st Hastighet 3.5 GHz, 8MB Cach GTX 690 16 GB, 2x8192MB. Rig two Intel Core i7-3930K s2011, 12MB 6st -Over clocked till 4.4 GHz Nvidia GTX 580 1,5 GB + Nvidia GTX 580 1,5 GB SLI 16 GB (4 x 4 GB)

I'll put it this way. I have an i5-3570k @ 4.5ghz, 8gb ddr @ 2000, two 3gb gtx 580s.

 

And I'd get a 690.

SLI , you have to wait for the driver writer to optimise for your game

No SLI , you just run the game

The 690 is a dual-gpu SLI card, so either the 690 or 580s would have this issue. I still vote for the 690.

I really want to get a 690 but a little voice is telling me that in a few months the GK110 is going to come out and it will be about 25% faster than a 680GTX IE- very close to the performance of a 690 @ $1000.00

 

The thing is if you wait too long to get a 690 they will be gone and you will only find used ones with no warranty.

 

I almost bought a 590 but they went out of stock and were discontinued. When I drop that much dough on a card I'm NOT getting one without a warranty , so that idea died....
