Please humour me and run this D3D Bandwidth Test

and post the results.

so I get a rough Idea what your system can push through your USB monitors.

And tell me your exact layout while DCS and Helios is running - so I got everything in one post and I don't have to search for it .

I am current running Memtest86 as we speak and I will run D3D Bandwidth Test as soon as its done. Just to clarify though, they are not USB monitors. They 2 are regular 24" monitors with touch screen overlays, the overlays plug into the USB hub, and 1 is a 22" regular touch screen monitor. So all 6 of my monitors plug into my GPU, with 3 USB's plugged in for the touch screens.

Ok so I cut the Memtest short sense it seems to be a very long test and I have to leave in the next hour for the night. I did run the D3DBandwidth and here are the results...

Memtest86+ Test complete, Passed, No errors found....so my memory is good. Ordered a new PSU, should be here Wednesday. Though I am not hopeful that it is the problem, I have no other issues at all with my system, just DCS when Helios is running. Sometime next week I hope to video tape the actual crash so interested parties can see what my system is do.

Just for poops and giggles I wiped my drivers again and tried the 12.7 beta drives from the ATI site. 17 seconds before I got a "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Then tried 12.3 drives with no dice also. I also ran stress tests using Prime 95 and OCCT with no issues at all. Its the damnedest thing. I'm gonna send gadroc a PM on his site and see maybe helios might be incompatible with my 7970. Is anyone running Helios with a 7970's GPU?

I am running the most current software. Good idea trying older versions of Helios. I'll try that when I get off work. Thanks...

ATM I am running v. 1.2.172. Haven't had any problems with it so I haven't even updated to the latest version.

I wonder if older versions are still available for download? Anyway, I have at least three older versions saved. Tell me if you cannot find download links for older versions any more.

Hello,

you know what crashed my system when I updated to the new catalyst-version? The open-gl acceleration option. When I turned this one on, I wasn't able to use my TrackIR and my system crashed a few moments later.

Perhaps this option is activated in your CCC?

Greetings from Germany!

I will look into that when I get home, granted I'm sure its off but I'll double check. Not to say that I have also flown with CCC turned off by closing MOM.exe and CCC.exe in my task manager and it still crashed. Track IR is also working flawlessly during all this......but you never know, thanks for the tip.

Well I tried the older versions of Helios with no luck. v.1.1.146 and 1.2.168 would crash just trying to load my Profile and 1.2.1.172 resulted in the same in game crash.

Also not sure if this makes a difference but I bought Black Shark 2 last night and tried it out with Helios this morning....Yup same crashed happen while flying BS.

Strange. My Helios won't crash, ever. No matter which version. I have AMD HD6950 by the way.

Maybe your next step would be nVidia GeForce GFX 670/680/690?

I know I have asked this before, but ill ask again. Is anyone running Helios with a 7970?

Well I even dusted off BMS 4.32 to run helios on that...and yup same crash but it was actually able to recover from it. Windows even log showed that it was the same though.

I have also PM'ed Gadroc at his workshop regarding this issue with no response...sniff sniff sniff

So my new PSU will be here today, though I doubt its a power problem. Rather be sure then not.

I probably wouldn't mind going the nvidia route, but last I read they were still behind the power curve for multi-monitors. Can you get 6 monitors going with nvidia?

Did you try reinstalling Windows?

Now it looks like a weird hardware conflict. Most common hardware conflicts are RAM<->mobo and GPU<->mobo. I'd try replacing GPU with another 7970, for example MSI one (diffirent manufacturer, diffirent video BIOS). If it doesn't help then I'd try other model (maybe 7950 for start), or GTX6xx series.

Also you could try change RAM to anything but Corsair.

I had hardware conflict once - Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. I tried new drivers, diffirent Windows, everything. Didn't work, I gave up. 2 or 3 months later I changed my platform (CPU and mobo - AM2 to LGA775) and it started working.

Maybe you should re-google "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." and use the google filter to narrow down the hits into the last month or so, or search specifically with your card model (= 7970).

@Skymad...I have tried reinstalling windows, ran every stress test that's out there. My system is stable. Asus is the only company that makes the 7970 DC2T so I can run all 6 of my monitors. They make a 7950 DC2T but I doubt that will make a difference. Right now if I had to guess, I would say that Helios is not compatible with the 7970 and I can't seem to find anyone else running a 7970 with Helios to tell me other wise. Furthermore, apparently Gadroc (creator of Helios) has gone into hiding, so no help there.

Whats the name of this creek? Shit? hmmm....now what did I do with my paddle?

Still keeping hope that a new PSU will do it :joystick:

Nvidia still doesn't support 6 monitors as far as I know.

True, I think. Regardless though, I don't have a gtx card to swap with and $500 on a new card just to test a theory is a little steep....hmmm or I could just stuff it in my wife computer when im done with it. She already has the fastest facebook surfing computer on earth. But then if the gtx card doesn't crash I will cry like a little baby because it will prove I can't run 6 monitors, 3 for eyefinity and 3 for Helios. Then i'll start drinking more, probably start beating my wife out of frustration of all the money I spent trying to build my virtual pit, then I'll end up getting a divorce and she'll get custody of my computer and well [profanity removed].
