Stratos Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Can anyone tell me why the combat planes wear the actual cammo paterns?? Why Nato planes uses "Air Superiority" Grey and why the Russians uses that blue for the Flankers?? And If the F/A-22 have to destroy the enemy in BVR why they wear the grey cammo?? and why not a Blood red or lemon yellow?? I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
GGTharos Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Why would you -not- paint your aircraft in camo? Anything that makes the aircraft harder to see decreases the enemy's chances of spotting and attacking it. Camo helps the aircraft dissapear - blend in with the sky at shorter distances than normal. And being a BVR fighter is no excuse to pass up any sort of low-observability treatment when its easy and cheap to apply. Besides which, the F-22 is an EXCELLENT WVR fighter. D-Scythe Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 ...beats the F-16 And the Flanker, Fulcrum, Eurofighter, Eagle, Hornet and anything else that has wings and actually flew.
Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 One of the best, in my opinion, is the one that the Brazilian Air Force chose for fleet-wide use - grey/green.
hitman Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Yeah until that turkey gets sucked up as FOD...
Pilotasso Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Yeah until that turkey gets sucked up as FOD... ROFL! The reason for green cammo only in Brazil's airforce is because right now there is not a plane there to paint air superiority shemes on. Wich is somewhat eerie, since they do have AWACS aircraft. .
Stratos Posted October 28, 2005 Author Posted October 28, 2005 NOOOO Maybe I don't made the question in a good way. lol.I want to know, why the Russians use blue for the Flanker?? It don't help to cammo the plane, same for the grey, please tell me the signifiance of the colours I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
GGTharos Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Actually yes, it does help to camouflage it. And they use these particular colors because their research says 'you lose it from sight faster if yuo do this'. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Stratos Posted October 29, 2005 Author Posted October 29, 2005 That's it! ok I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Guest IguanaKing Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 True. Its all from differences in research. You can also look at the cockpit panel colors of Western and Eastern aircraft to see evidence of this difference in research. The funny thing is...I am involved in the test program for a new Western, high performance jet aircraft, and its panel is...BLUE...just like an Eastern aircraft.
