stelios2000 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) Hello and nice to meet you in this wonderful forum... Guys i have bought all the gears from the K'nex site K'NEX User Group - Gears and i try to make a throttle with two levers for a twin engine aeroplane...(A-10) a bought a couple of 10K pots (A) (i think this is the linear and not the B logarithmic) and some 6mm rods cause the gears have a hole for 6mm shaft and the pots's shaft is also 6mm. i used the gray 14teeth gear for the pot and the 34 teeth gear for the rod that it is moving with the throttle. First i want you to tell me if there is another gear with more than 34 teeth but as the K'nex to use it with the gray one, cause now with the 14teeth and 34teeth the lever have to make almost 120 degree circle which i dont like it...i prefer to make a 60 degree...So i want the relation of the teeth gear to be almost 1:5. Second i want you to help me mount all these together cause i think i am doing something wrong... In a while i will upload a pic from my cellphone to understand what i did... thanks in advance stelios FROM GREECE Edited August 21, 2012 by stelios2000
Swaty Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Hello Stelio Firstly I have no idea about rods!:music_whistling: You will need something to convert the mecahnical movement. You are planning to but something? (Opencockpits etc). If you want to have only only 2 throttles and maybe some switches you can start with a simple USB convertor (about 15€): http://www.hotas.gr/content/view/63/1/lang,el/ What are you thinking about the case? PeterP Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) Guys, I hope I don't sound too snooty .... But: ... if you have a RC-hobby shop in your town - please visit it ! You get high-precision gears that are much more robust/precise as the one from K'Nex and you get also eloquent advises from the employees for almost the same price. Edited August 24, 2012 by PeterP
