In Sabres mission he mentions that alot of booms are lost from pilots hitting them. Its not necessarily the boom operators fault that they get damaged.

Nah guys, hes doing everything right, the ONLY thing he has trouble with is having the tanker respond to him.

But yeah dude, its not easy at first, but then its a piece of cake. There are other refueling types without the boom but with the cable, but only for certain aircraft.

Still if you are having issues with maintaining speed, then its your throttle, you need to put a slight curve on the throttle to avoid it being overly sensitive, my friend had the same issue, and now hes golden.

Great picts; really not easy IRL also. :joystick:

I just wanna know, is there a known bug relating to a Tanker's boom clipping through your nose? Cause I've been working hard to learn this and the first night I got connection a couple times and couldn't maintain cause my stick was too jumpy, however today I was very steady and saw the Boom guy trying to guide it in and it just kept.... well glitching. I actually went F2 view and I saw the boom coming out the bottom of my aircraft, the wings practically inside my cockpit and the whole boom is going through where the port to connect really is but obviously not connected. Yes the door was open, light said "ready" and all the precontact stuff set. The guy just put the boom through my nose, I even saw him fully 'deploy' the inner tube of it through my nose like he was trying to make contact or something.

So I'm just wondering, is this clipping known? I can't seem to find any info on it in searching. I know I know, attach a track, but at this point I just wanna know if its a bug or if its just a by product of being maybe a touch over speed on reaching the boom (which I'm almost certain I wasn't). If anything I'm just a touch underspeed and spent probably 15 minutes just edging forward, touching back throttle and seeming to come to ZERO forward motion relative to the Tanker just shy of where you can start connecting. But as I got that feathered just right I ended up seeing it clip through my nose or even bang my plane up when I was going totally straight and level formation.

Just checking. Since I got contact before it may be random but as I get better I'll figure out more clearly if Im right about this.
