hello,

my computer died yesturday....

I will buy a new one but i need an advice.

95% of the use of this computer will be dcs world and fc3.

i will use some parts of my old computer.

2 hard disk raptor 250 giga

1 hard disc blue caviar 750 giga

seven will run on a ssd 60 giga nod 32 will be on the same ssd

all the applications (dsc A10, KA50, FC2, Falcon, photoshop 6)

will run on a separate ssd 120 giga.

tell me if you think that this could be optimised.

Can you get some specific part names on those raptors? Depending on age you can get better results from "mainstream" HDD's today, assuming that you handle the system specifically for this purpose.

On the components:

I'm slightly hesitant on the Sabertooth. I haven't doublechecked the Z77 version, but the previous version had much worse OC support than the PRO series of mobos that have the same pricetag. Also, the shroud is a problem since you are looking at liquid cooling - it REALLY wants you to have an air cooler where air-flow is directed into the motherboard (to introduce airflow inside the shroud).

Aside from that it looks pretty good, IMO.

For cooling, yes. IT is a bit overpriced though, imo, for what the features will get you. It is also a Z68 board which means you lose PCIe 3 and (possibly, not sure) iGP support on Ivy.

Perhaps look at ASUS P8Z77-V PRO or ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE .

They're cheaper (marginally) than the Sabertooth here, and definitely cheaper than the Maximus IV, but offer everything you need and are in a better position to cool themselves while using liquid cooling for the CPU.

Not necessarily, there are some z68 board revisions that support PCIe 3, but of course if you go Ivy, you probably would want to get a recent chipset on your mainboard too.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

sobek - I meant support for the Ivy native PCIe3 controller. Or have they axed that in as well? I'm unsure how this would be done without requiring an Intel chipset stepping as opposed to implementing an additional controller on the mobo.

If you're getting water cooling ASUS Maximus V Formula Motherboard is really good motherboard, if I was getting me new PC now I would most likely get that one

ah never mind, I just saw you won't go custom water loop and you're going Corsair H100 so you won't be able to water cool the motherboard.

Hello,

I am rookie in watercooling, i was interested on performances on chipset cooling and also on the

Easy acces to motherboard and other elements that theses Wcooling kits alows.

I had to face in the past, big fans that didn't fit the chipset area, or were in contact with big memory cards.

Now i realise with your comments that Chipset fans do also motherboard cooling. Is that correct?

I have a ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE (excellent mobo by the way) set up with a homemade watercooling setup. The motherboard is adequately cooled by the case fans i.e. air drawn in through the front of the PC and expelled out the back. I have no additional chipset fans and never have in my last 2 watercooled setups and never had any temp problems.

Regarding which mobo to go for I think ASUS have reallly gone for it on the z77 chipset, as to which one to go for depends on your setup.

Check Here for a useful table showing differences between the better ASUS mobo's.

Good luck with the build.
