FLIR Auto Focus - DMS Left Sort (TGP SOI)

Depth of field is not taken into account when rendering the TGP footage (or any other footage for that matter), so the focus functionality is inop.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Interesting, I guess the sim looks was very realistic if we had this video card capability...

The game has no way of telling where your eyes are looking, so what information would you feed the postprocess blurring with? Blurring everything that has other depth of field as, e.g. the middle of the screen, would result in very unenjoyable effect.

Since we are discussing the TGP, the source would be the focal point of the TGP and the focus setting of same. How difficult it would be to accomplish this in the TGP only is another question...

Well, his post sounded like he was talking about blurring in general. I guess that DX9 offers postprocessing stuff that would be sufficient to render a visual effectof sorts but since this is mainly a visual "gimick" with very limited impact on gameplay, it has probably a rather low priority with ED. There are other visual features that would have a much larger impact, like a separate heat texture renderer for a better IR camera depiction.

I'v used it once or twice but never saw the use for it

I've tried it as well. Seems to kinda work, I mean at least the focus will be somehow altered. But no significant final result.

No use, it's already on the to-do list, and has been for quite a while. Not a small thing to add, though.
