alex1 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Wow, i just noticed what a huge difference in fps there is when setting AF from application controlled to 16x....i have a nvidia 670 and loose about 15 to 20 fps.... i,m not sure how much difference it makes in game as the comparison screenshots i took l don't look any different, what setting do most people use i wonder? and are there official/recommended nvidia settings?
KillaALF Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 AFAIK the game alreay sets 16x AF by default, so there is no reason to force that via your graphics card driver.

Do you have a source for this info? (curious) i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. Mustang Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 This has been a long known fact, overriding the built in DCS AA and AF will murder framerates.
luza Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I diddn't know this. I remember having to force AF and AA for FC2 to look decent :P (and get rid of shimmering) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BTTW-DratsaB Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 (edited) some facts: AF has no affect on performance....in any game since like 2001 ( AA is a different story) AF forced via the NV cp used to work wonders for DCS A10 and BS Since several patches ago they ruined the ability of AF forced via the NV CP to make any difference in this sim. Now the texture filtering in game is absolutely crap all the time (maybe if I used High textures it will look better, but I can't with my hardware) AFx16 used to be a nice compromise on lower quality texture setting, as it just makes the texture sharper for further into the distance. Not anymore though. There is no way on earth that the op should loose 20 fps ! with AF on 16. you are missing some thing else. This has been a long known fact, overriding the built in DCS AA and AF will murder framerates. I am surprised to see you say this, as people will believe(trust) you as you are an "ED tester". For AA maybe....but AF? No way. This is how miss information spreads around sims, and you end up with performance guides recommending things like "Disable Physx" or set GPU to "maximum performance" Edited October 2, 2012 by BTTW-DratsaB Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64.
