Their toast, I have them right in the pipper, release......pull off, hit F2 to watch the carnage. WTF, where is the carnage ? What CBU was that...oh man, that was a CBU-87. THIS SUCKS and the tanks are still alive. I quit.... :D [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear. SmokeyTheLung
AFAIK the CBU-87 is designed to be effective against armor. The bomblets are a combination of shaped charge and fragmentation. The CBU-97, on the other hand, is a thoroughbred armor killer... With fragmentation as an afterthought As to the performance in DCS, you can kill armor with the 87. You need to set the HOF and RPM very low though, in order to get a really tight footprint and concentration of the bomblets Edited October 6, 2012 by SmokeyTheLung System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
SmokeyTheLung
urmmm... shouldn't cbu-87 like... decimate the whole group of tanks ? If you're talking about the historical definition of decimate (to kill one of ten) than yeah, that might be about right 1 System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
WildBillKelsoe
87's trick is low and low rpm and hof. both to 500 x 500 and you're having a carpet for two T-80's max. check 476th footprint tables for more info. thisisentchris87
CBU-97 or CBU-105 are all I use. Much fun and merriment is to be had when sensor fuzed cluster munitions are used. USAFMTL
CBU-97 or CBU-105 are all I use. Much fun and merriment is to be had when sensor fuzed cluster munitions are used. For sure, I wasn't paying attention to what I selected. I was committing a cardinal sin by fixating on the target too much and not what I was going to drop. It was the text book run, I was proud of myself until....I realized I dropped the wrong bomb. :D [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear. Frogisis
I like the CBU-87, though... There's just something about a textbook cluster bomb without all this parachute and skeet business. But I do have a great deal of trouble killing anything with it, even some practice trucks. I'll have to see about setting the release height lower.
