Corrigan Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 When slewing between waypoints the motion on the "not every frame" setting seems more choppy, while my overall fps is the same. Did this setting change recently? In a related question, what's the refresh rate on the real ones? zipdigital Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 "Not every frame" is a performance tweak, so 'choppyness' is expected. Since it renders the TGP display every other frame, it is not being updated per-frame as the rest of the "world" is. It lowers the amount work the game has to perform to render the TGP output while also rendering the cockpit and world around you. (I think this also includes mirrors?) If you set it to every frame, the 'choppyness' would probably disappear, but you may also get an overall lower frame rate depending on the capability of your system. I ended up leaving it on lowest resolution as my rig is beginning to show its age. (And no mirrors) Your mileage may vary. "Sol" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron
Corrigan Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 I understand that, yes. However, it doesn't say "every other frame", it says "not every frame". My question was, have they changed the refresh rate of this setting (from one fraction of the total framerate to another). In any case, it seems my choppiness was a one-off, and it's normal now. zipdigital Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Perhaps something I did not see before it was resolved in the recent "micro-patches" from the auto-updater? Glad it is resolved for you. "Sol" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron
Corrigan Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 It's possible. Thanks. :) Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
Dejjvid Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Honestly, I have not noticed any differences between the different settings. But I have not played with them since beta. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
