Hello.

As a DCS:NOOB I would like to post a question about something that is not very clear to me. How the campaign continuity works in DCSW? I mean - it's clearly not the classic "mission - success - next mission - success - next mission - etc..."

I mean:

First, I was shot down while my Results were around 50 (I kinda figured out this has to be 100 for mission complete, is that right?) but I still got progress and advanced to next mission.

Then, my sim crashed two times in single mission, so I started to search for some solutions. After starting my sim again, there was a different mission.

Today, I had engine fire on takeoff run and rejected takeoff. But when I wanted to fly that mission again, there was again a completely different mission.

How the hell that works? Is the sim taking in to account that some time passed everytime I press "back" and not "fly again", so I'm assigned to different task, or what? :dunno: Thanks.

It really depends on how the specific campaign is structured. With the campaigns released by ED, it's usually "succeed in objective - progress to next mission". However, succeeding in your objective does not guarantee a score of 100. I think that can relate to whatever the mission designer chooses.

If you take ED's Georgian Oil War campaign as a different example, the campaign is split into stages with 4 missions in each stage. You can move backwards and forwards through the campaign based on your progress in the previous mission. This particular campaign is basically a force-on-force scenario and the scores given to the player reflect mainly the number of friendly units left on the battlefield compared to the number of enemy units left.

Caveat:

I'm not 100% sure anything I just wrote is correct.

I really depends on the mission/campaign designer. For me, I generally start the player each mission with a score of 50, so if they exit out at mission start, the mission will be rated a tie and they will stay within the current phase. If there is more than one mission in the phase, they will be given a new mission in the same phase; if there is a single mission in the phase, then the player would replay the mission. Again, other mission/campaign designers can structure their campaigns differently.
