emenance Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 WEll since the patch has hit with 64 bit support we may aas well think about running windows 64 . I wonder what the advantages we will get useing the 64 bit OS. Seems that now lock on runs 64 bit with the new patch there should be a significant increase in performance. Im willing to load it up and see what happens but i dont think my printer will survive with a 64 bit OS. Whats has windows xp 64 done for you ...........esp anyone able to tell us how the new patch has affected 64 bit OS systems???? Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 dude, wait til vista comes before you go the 64 route, xp 64 = driverless and supposldy a load of shiat, i dunno tho, cuz i for one aint stupid enought to try it. vista will have more driver support than xp 64
emenance Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 thats very true , but in my case , my x52 has 64 bit drivers and now lockon is going to support 64 bit speed. When I build anything, if its a Harley or a computer I prefer to want components to match to first be stable and then perform. Alot has happen, 64 bit os has been out for awhile, there is no need to totally fear trying to get it to work now. However we had alot of people loseing alot of things back when windows xp came out, and ill say I do suggest waiting for at least the first service pack when it comes to this but I know what im doing , may as well give it a shot :) Its not really driver less at this time but for sure you can run into printer problems and other mutlimedia stuff , Im not waiting for vista. Im going to load it in and try to blow it up. Really wish we could get some experienced observations here. S77th-Python Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Been using XP-64 since 1.11 became available. NO significant boost in performance, don't expect 60-70 fps where it used to be 30. It will stay 30. Maybe 31. However, the game does not crash now and it's smoother than with the regular XP-32. AND you're gonna have a lot of problems with drivers so watch out.
emenance Posted December 4, 2005 Author Posted December 4, 2005 ok didnt do it well see what vista has, heres my box 10 x 250 fsb 3200 venice memory 7 3 3 2.5 ocz platinum rev 2 tccd chips new newegg 11-30 they are back to the tccd chips now. stock times are 5222 , not bad previous owner claimed a 10 x 270 overclock with this brand of memory, might try someday but im happy with it now. nice 185 mem divider in here for that too. 185 x 270=499.50 x 2 =htt 999 this overclock could work but id be scared for stability. high per dis agg time dis do dis nv dis spec dis dram weak cool dis cpu 10 fsb 250 agp 67 volts 1.45 cpu plus 8 % mem volts 2.7 dis fast write dis aggres timing no chipset option in this bios so im assuming its also dis. other bios stuff mostly stock sideeffect 1 b tccd optimized bios 8% seems needed for stability..... will run memtest at 5% Also 1.45 is the limit on the cpu so setting above that is useless. I can memtest no problem. Very fast set up much better than my old nforce 2 rig. comments? DayGlow Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Just so you are aware, ED did nothing except give StarForce 64bit drivers so it will work under Win64. The game has not be recompiled for 64bit so you will not gain any advantages that way. upyr1 Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 hi, my advice is simple foucus on ram and a fast graphics card.
emenance Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 ok and yes i understand now that the tweak for 64 bit was for starforce but still am curious what MS new operating systems are doing for us compared to the standard xp , im talking about game performance, Every release of windows has come with the the hype of better game performance bla bla bla . It will be interesting to find out just how those really work in the real world.
