Razor5-1 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 As the title says, I'm having great difficulty getting this feature to work as I want. I have set up an AWACS with fighter escort. I set the engagement distance to 20 miles. But as soon as the fighters take off they immediately set off to engage enemy aircraft even transport helicopters, that are 80 miles away from them and the AWACS! Any help on how to tame the escorts to actually escorting and not doing interception of aircraft that are no threat to the AWACS would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Grimes Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Set the escort command on the F-18s first waypoint(take-off) and it should work. However I've discovered a slight bug that is being investigated at the moment. 1 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Probably the one where you can only have escort (and maybe follow, I am not sure) only on the FIRST waypoint of agroup, basically their initial wayppoint. You can not have them travel a bit and THEN start escorting something, right? Grimes Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 You should be able to, however its currently bugged. It ONLY works if its assigned on the first WP. So you can't right now, but once it gets fixed the Escort role will work like any other aircraft role does. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. JEFX Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 OK, dont know if this is new to the new update today, but ESCORT IS NOW WORKING with me (player)!!!! As Grimes said, it doesnt work if one tries to assign this function on a STP that is not the very first one, but if you assign ESCORT (anyone) on the very furst Waypoint, be it the takeoff waypoint, it works and it is a great great new function! So, with this now, we can take off and head in the direction of our business and have an escort flight of 4 fighters take-off after us and rejoin us and escort us all the way, wow. thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... Druid_ Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 You have to change the x,y,z parameters. Depending on wether you have metric or imperial set in options, the x,y,z parameters are feet or metres distance from the set to follow aircraft. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
