statrekmike Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I would sure like to know what kind of magic you are doing to get DCS to run a whole mission without crashing, I have reinstalled the game, repaired it, updated it twice (the two hotfixes) and still it crashes every time. I see no reason for this on my end, 1.2.1 worked flawlessly and if I could go back it it, I would in a heartbeat.
BRooDJeRo Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) If it realy has to do with anything other people experience i dont know, but this is how i maintain stuff: - Keep Windows updated - Keep drivers fresh and new, reinstallation of drivers when updates take some time - Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Saved Games/DCS/Logs - Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Saved Games/DCS/Tracks/Multiplayer - Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Appdata/Local/temp (skip files in use) - Clear files in C:/Windows/Temp - Clear files in C:/Windows/Prefetch - Run Windows Diskcleanup, optionaly clear shadowcopys under advanced - Turn off scedualed Defragmentation and do that manualy when needed - Turn off Windows update and do that manualy when needed - Turn off System Restore - Turn off Allow remote assistance - Turn off antivirus - End processes manualy that arent needed in the Windows Taskmanager - Unplug any hardware that isnt needed for DCS play When problems apear the first thing i do is reinstall C++ 2010 X64 and DirectX 9c that come with DCS in the DCS World/distr folder and turn DCS performance settings a couple of notches down. When i have a crash at the moment it is because i press the ladder button in the A-10C and make my own server hardwarecrash for the fun of it or someone else is foolin around with the same or something unknown. I also think that those officialy hosted older versions of all sorts of mods being used that plug into critical DCS systems dont help either. Everything activily maintained should have less problems. All this doesnt mean that you couldnt have somesort of problem ofcourse. One thing i do know is that for every problem there should be a solution somewhere. Human failure usualy keeps you from reaching the solution when the problem isnt unsupported older hardware. This should at least keep some people from crashing for sure. sobek Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) And why not ..... In every other sector of business , a guestamation isnt too much to ask for . In fact an estimate is the norm ..... Because, now don't take this the wrong way, but some of you lot are not professional. If you were a professional client, you wouldn't start throwing manure ED's way every time they announce they have discovered a road block. So not happening in the entertainment industry, though. Edited November 17, 2012 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
sobek Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 feel free to do what you will, but try to stick to the actual mission brief. DCS Logs are being archived for ED. The sensible way to go about this... Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
verana_ss Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 We had this issue in our private server yesterday night. In several hours, all of the clients in the server gets CTD, and those wiped out can no longer rejoin even though the server is still running. Any temporary solutions or tips to avoid the issue is welcome...:helpsmilie:
aceflier Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Just wanted to add that I also experience hard lock freeze in MP. Out of 4 flights on 104th server 4 times it hard locked with screen freeze and just before I saw multiple clients disconnect. Had to cntrl alt delete and end task. Hope this issue can get fixed. It seems much worse than when I flew the stand alone a10C a year ago. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BRooDJeRo Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) I was on that same server for a little while, then my client froze up. Not even a stopped working when forcing a shutdown. I dont have this experience on other servers, could be mission or load related. The masterserver said ther was 32 people in it when i joined it, but inside there was max 15-18. Fishy fishy fishy. If im correct this server has somesort of filechecking against modding. I have a small cosmetic mod, but was reverted to original state when i was been on 104th server. That didnt happen today. More than one was warping around the airport Sekumi on my startup cycle. Was there a loadtest earlier? I could still hear the hamsters yappin. Edited November 18, 2012 by BRooDJeRo
Dejjvid Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I might be able to reproduce this issue. Tonight i was hosting and the server booted all clients when I flew over the exact same spot. There are no triggers, units or zones in that area. And time is not the factor. The only thing in common between the two issues is that I was on the exact same spot both times. We have the coordinates, and I think I still have the tracks. Will try to reproduce this weekend. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
chromium Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 We have the coordinates, and I think I still have the tracks. Will try to reproduce this weekend. Can you tell us coordinates? :) Author of DSMC, mod to enable scenario persistency and save updated miz file Stable version & site: https://dsmcfordcs.wordpress.com/ Openbeta: https://github.com/Chromium18/DSMC The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.
Dejjvid Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Yea, i got them at home. After i've gotten permission from the mission designer, i can upload the mission and coordinates. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
Endy Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 We were getting the same yesterday in the multiplayer campaign we're playing. Multiple clients getting freezes at the same time, forcing a ctrl+alt+del to close the client. Funnily enough, it concerns FC3, KA-50 and CA clients mostly. A10s seemed to be ok. We have no idea what the cause is but it's very annoying and breaks many multiplayer game attempts.
