Please Review My Build

Hello all. I may be building a new computer soon. Here is what I have put together so far:

Think this would run DCS smoothly? Resolution would be 3600x1920 + bezel correction (should be about 3800x1920 total) I will be playing FC3 and BS2 most of the time... Until the new fast mover comes along in the future...

 

Hopefully one 7970 3GB would run smooth... I rather stick with one card if at all possible. Some other forum members have also reported that DCS doesn't respond with much performance increase with SLI/Xfire.

 

Comments, suggestions?????

That'll do it... mind you if you run triple screen and 1Camera setting you'll get quite good FPS with most if not all settings on high, but if you chose 3Camera settings your FPS will go down to about 1/3)

Anyone know if 32GB (4x8.) of 1600mhz memory would be better than 16GB (2x8.) of 1833mhz??

16GB is more than plenty :)

Get faster speed and lower latencies and watch for RAM voltage, as some are still 1.65v, so get RAM that works on 1.5v

 

PS: sorry I forgot to say about monitor, I think 8ms response is bit too high, I have IPS monitor that has 8ms and TN panel that have 5ms and 3ms and I can tell you I can see difference in 8ms and 5ms panel (faster scroling image with lower response time) so if you can get monitor with low response time also... and mind you I have found IPS panels don't really add much to sim but are more pricy, especially if you are getting 3 monitors.

 

The good thing is viewing angle (178°/178°) but to be honest, since you sit facing the monitor straight ahead you can't tell the difference really... I guess if this monitor is not too expensive gettings good IPS panel is good, I still think though 8ms (grey to grey) little too high for gaming.

A word of warning about the Antec1200 case, its heavy and a pain in the butt to clean there are a total of 24 screws that you have to remove to get tthe filters out.

Now, I just take mine out back and blow the dust in lol

I want to run the three monitors in portrait mode and I believe IPS monitors will look better due to the greater viewing angle. I currently have 3 23" Acers and I cannot use them in portrait due to the poor viewing angle and the thickness of the bottom of the case.

I've had the Antec 1200 for four years now and am going to re-use it.... yes, it is a BEAST! I also blow mine out with compressed air... 8)

I hate dust... my PC has fans that blow air in with very fine filters and there are more air going into the case then fans taking air out of the case... creates high pressure in case and no air goes in unless it goes through those fine filters... result... absolute minimal dust buildup in case and what ever enters in case is very very fine dust only and is negligible... and I love it... I just clean the filters every 2-3 weeks (don't even have to take them off) and all is good

 

Now about the panels, if you make the 3 monitors in straight line then yes, you will have changes in image quality at edges of side monitors, but if you make them at an angle so that side monitors face you (monitors create circle around you) then you won't have this issue, also it's better for immersion if all monitors face you

I do the same with my case... run the intake fans faster than exhaust :)

 

I have tried every possible combination and cannot get my monitors to work well in portrait. I took this video here:

but had to really manipulate the monitors and camera to make it appear decent... when using them they don't look as good... :(

I pulled the trigger and ordered the Z77 board and some RAM... will wait for some black friday/cyber monday sales and see how cheap I can get the rest....
