FZG_Immel Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Òk, here is my question. Can I copy my whole DCS-World folder to my new SSD Game partition, now that i migrated the OS on it too ? It would save me the hassle of a whole reinstall, and the updates with my slow connection. the the new C: drive is EXACTLY the same as the old one.. so config files etc are already there.. What I would need to do is copy my "DCS WORLD" folder from HD "D" hard drive to the new C: SSD. I already did it for falcon, and after changing the registery key, it works. will it work for DCS_World ? what are the registry keys i need to change (path) for it ? I am under windows 7 64 - thanks a lot for your help ? Azrayen Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World See subkeys too, one for each module, with path.
HiJack Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Unregister and do a fresh install is best. Take backup of your Saved Games\DCS folder first also. Jack

Jack the whole point is NOT doing that actually ;) I have already saved everything.. But i want to avoid the pain of re downloading all the updates. Im gonna listen to you and reinstall ;) [sIGPIC]https://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic70550_3.gif[/sIGPIC] Asus Z390-H - SSD M.2 EVO 970 - Intel I9 @5.0ghz - 32gb DDR4 4000 - EVGA 3090 - Cougar FSSB + Virpil WRBRD + Hornet Stick - Thrustmaster TPR Pedal + WinWing MIP + Orion + TO and CO pannels - Track IR5
Azrayen Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Did you change your shortcuts? You can do a double installation (minus the \SavedGames part), this is the same mechanism...
FZG_Immel Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 I did.. Apparently it was working. It's just the difference I expected to see wasn't that great. But now anyway, I've made a new install and it rocks. That auto updater is a cool feature when it's fast like tonight. Purg Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Use something like 'steam mover' that sets up a junction point from where you installed the game and copies the files to your SSD. That way, I can move whatever games I'm currently playing to and from the SSD with a few simple clicks. While its focus was on Steam games, you can select any directory you wish to junction to your SSD.
