Kuky Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 but how about from distance, wouldn't smaller lights make them stop being visible at shorter distance? No longer active in DCS...

HungaroJET Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) yet to figure out lod for lights. but thats where hungarojet comes in handy he knows a lot about the lighting system in dcs world. atm hes busy though. yes, unfortunately im too busy nowadays but making nice lights are very complex works, not only smaller/larger textures but smaller/larger light-planes in LOD files or in the "builtin" LODs, of course (to your PM diveplane) you need to use self illuminated textures...those will not dark at night...will keep self-light just @ daytime i remember in Beta A-10C we had some models which used very light NAV lights and were visible from long distances...(more precisely: from a short distance was the same like with present version, but from a distance NAV light spots were not smaller) NAV light planes was huge...so aircraft was only a small dot in the far away (4000 meters), but NAV lights was same sized on screen, same as when you watched the model from 20 meters... with this mod the negative side effect: Nav light spots will disappear quickly if you moving away from the aircraft by your camera IRL @ night, lights are visible from a very long distance too, maybe only Formation lights not Edited December 1, 2012 by HungaroJET Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. KaspeR32 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I know this is an old post, but I'm just using the search function to try and find some information. Currently in DCS: World, I would love a mod that does the OPPOSITE of this mod. I would love it if the lights were VERY visible at all times. If it's early morning, night, or dusk, I feel like lights on an aircraft should be visible from a very far distance. Especially when I'm trying to find my brother in his mustang, we spend most of the time looking for each other in the air.
