Gazehound Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Some servers set their scenes to high, and when this happens it is forced on the client. Is there any way to get around this? LOMAN? My computer can just about hack setting scenes to high for a low level free flight but in combat its very hard to sew your tdc with framerates in the 8-13 region. Thx VVS504 Red Hammers
Force_Feedback Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Have the same problem, but worse, my fps atarts with in the low 20-ies, but after 5 minutes it drops to 10-13 and after 30 min it's floating around 7 :( Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Kula66 Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I used to get the same problem ... 15-20 in general use, then on some servers they have high graphics plus fog, rain etc ... and it is reduced to a slide show! And does it add to BVR combat? I would suggest not ... Thanks to all server owners for hosting, much appreciated, but please remember those that have old/slow systems.
luke97 Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I have the opposite problem with servers that use "medium" or "low" scenes. It has an easy solution: 1. Go to (i.e. your using this route for your install) C:\Lock On\Bazar\Terrain\Scenes 2. If you want use always i.e. "Low" scenes, copy the file "low.scn" and paste on other directory i.e. "LOWBACKUP". Rename it as "High.scn". 3. Backup your original "High.scn" file from C:\Lock On\Bazar\Terrain\Scenes 4. Paste the file from inside "LOWBACKUP", now named "High.scn" and overwrite your "original" High.scn file. You can do the same with "Medium.scn" file. Always remember to backup the files. Now, whatever scene settings the server had, you always will use the ones you want. The key is knowing what scene type you want to use. If you often change the scenes settings, depending of the mission, maybe this tip is useless, because invalidates your election, but if you want play always in one or two settings only, its a good choice. As an example, I have the three files made from the "High.scn", so I always play "High" :-) (I cant fly w/o trees. I love trees and forest in LOMAC) S! 1

Wow thanks luke thats exactly what I was looking for. I'll replace my High one with a Medium renamed and then I'll get decent FPS on servers with scenes on high. If I fancy a sightseeing jaunt ill just replace with my backup High folder. :icon_jook VVS504 Red Hammers
luke97 Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 Welcome! In fact is not mine. I posted the same question here some time ago, and somebody gave me that great tip. I was really frustrated being forced to fly w/o eyecandy on HL servers. With the new 1.11 patch, as the fps are better, a lot of people can think, as I did, in increasing the detail of the terrain, so this tweak can help. S!
