Hey guys,

just a quick problem, which I am trying to solve. If cluster bombs are dropped in FC3 my fps goes down to 5. And I can not understand how that is possibile with my system specs (see below).

I have medium specs and one single monitor running on 1920 x 1080

Cheers

Try going here C:\DCS World\Bazar\Effects\expl\boom1.lua. Look for the line..NumParticles. I have changed that number from 400 to 100 and I've seen good results.

Have you considered installing an SSD in that machine?

That is a known issue, search the Forum there are lots of responses to it.

Did that change the visual quality at all?

Not really. The explosions obviously don't look quite as nice but they are still great to look at.

Did that... with good results. But still get a drop to 12 fps. I think there is something wrong. I mean with my system I should geht 30fps shouldnt I?

By the way: Samsung 830 SSD is installed and is used. So that can not be the matter.

Hey guys,

I will post the track here where I drop the bombs. I get around 10fps when watching the explosion with F6.

By the way: When taking off I experience some drag. I know there are 11 m/s wind but that has nothing to do with wind anymore. I posted this issue in a separate thread, which I will link down below.

Thanks for your help

I usually hover around 35-40. My system is similar to the one you have. You may want to drop that # even lower and experiment with it.

Have you changed your curve or axis settings at all?

Yes I did a few things on axis. Track IR5 included but seriously... is it so much demanding that a gtx 570 can not render it intime?

It should, no problem. I run a 550 Ti, and your 570 is better than that. The memory, pixel, and texel rate is better. I'll dig around some more.

Dumb question, but are you running anything in the background? Fraps, Bandicam, etc?

What version of A10 are you running? Reading around, it looks like 1.0.0.9 has given people the best FPS. Here are some suggestions from other users. Hopefully they can help with your FPS problem.

Keep in mind that DCS world is intended for 64bit OS, 32bit OS gives memory problems.

- Deinstall and Reinstall this C++ 2010 X32 and X64

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=14632

- Run this DirectX installer

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...s.aspx?id=8109

- Windows updated

- Drivers fresh and new, reinstallation of drivers when updates from manufacturers take some time

- Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Saved Games/DCS/Logs

- Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Saved Games/DCS/Tracks/Multiplayer

- Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Appdata/Local/temp (skip files in use)

- Clear files in C:/Windows/Temp

- Clear files in C:/Windows/Prefetch

- Run Windows Diskcleanup, optionaly clear shadowcopys under advanced

- Run diskchecks on all your harddrives

- Turn off scedualed Defragmentation and do that manualy when needed

- Run defragmentation

- Turn off Windows update and do that manualy when needed

- Turn off System Restore

- Turn off Allow remote assistance

- Turn off antivirus

- Unplug any hardware that isnt needed for DCS play or in case of problems unplug everything but one mouse and 1 keyboard

- Restart computer

- End processes manualy that arent needed in the Windows Taskmanager (ctrl-alt-del)

- Run DCS through the shortcuts in the START -> Programs -> Eagle Dynamics, start with single play in through the missioneditor first. Before you start a mission, SAVE it first.

- When problems stay, concider a new DCS download and installation

I'd make sure your drivers are all up-to-date as well.

Okay, I will do those steps and then make another test.

I run DCS World with 1.2.2

Everything done with no sucess. The fps is on 50-60 but if it comes to cluster bombs, there is a drop to 7 when watched. What did they do wrong. Is it so hard to render those effects? I have seen more complex ones less demanding on hardware.

It's been like that for a while.

"The art of simulation design is about understanding limited fidelity...

...compromises must be made. Designers have to consider cost vs. fidelity and processor time vs. fidelity. Additional trade-offs must be made between graphics, AI, flight models, number of units and more...

...never ask the pilot what he wants to learn because he too will end up building an airplane. Instead, ask the pilot what he needs to learn."

So it is not a fault of my configuration but ED's duty to fix it maybe in FC3 gold?

Oddly I have an antique pair of 275 gtx in SLI mode, which are far behind your cards and I was getting no drop in frame rate for cluster bombs. I often F6 to watch these go in. Some of my settings are reduced to allow my legacy pair to cope, so possibly your issue could be in one of those settings. Let me know if you want me to post the settings.
