Dave317 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 When landing i call the airbase with an 'inbound' call to which the atc tells me which direction to fly and for how far. I have always understood this to be the ip from where to start my decent. When i then call for navigation assistance i am given a bearing. What is this bearing to? Is it the runway or the ip? It never seems to make any sense to me.
Jona33 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 The bearing is to the ADF on the field I believe. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
Dave317 Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 What is the ADF for and why would you need a bearing to it?

Hamblue Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 If you follow the bearing it will place you at the approach to the runway, not exactly at the airfield. I use it especially when damage takes out my TAO Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. Samsung 830, 256 gig hard drive, GTX780 Video Card, Warthog Hotas, Razer Mamba mouse.
