SnowTiger Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Hi Everyone. I have purchased BlackShark 1 and 2 as well as P51 Mustang and A-10 Warthog, however I have yet to use any with exception of BS1 for about a month ... Almost 4 years ago. A few things took me away from being able to play and learn but I will be getting back into BS2 very soon (hoping to upgrade to Win7 64 bit). In the meantime, I have been gaining curiosity about DCS Combined Arms. It looks like it will be pretty cool. I read a brief note that mentioned "Programmable Laser Codes". Can someone please tell me what they are OR what they do (i.e. What does it mean) ? Furthermore, will the manual actually provide a List of Codes that can be used ? Thanks in Advance. mwd2 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Hi Everyone. ... I read a brief note that mentioned "Programmable Laser Codes". SnowTiger the A-10C can setup the laser code for the GBUs..... so if the JTAC light a target and the A-10C pilot have the wrong Laser Code, the GBU will not hit the target! Laser Designation Code (L), data entry OSB 18. Using the scratchpad, you may enter the laser designation code. The entered value can range from 1111 to 1788, but the first digit of the series must be a 1 and the last three digits must be between 1 and 8. The inputted number is displayed below the L OSB label. If an invalid number is inputted, an “INPUT ERROR” WCN is displayed in the center of the display. SnowTiger Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 Wow.. It sounds complex. But apparently this is something I will be able to learn from the A-10 Manual (I thought it was specific to Combined Arms). Thanks for the reply. I hope I can get back to learning and flying really soon. I was just starting to get the hang of BS1 when I got this high-maintenance puppy that just didn't allow me time to really do much of anything else. I installed BS2, A10 and P51 but haven't even had the chance to try any of them out. Now my computer isn't good enough so I'm waiting for an upgrade at which time I'll do little else but fly (and walk my dog when I have to !!). Thanks again. joey45 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Well.. Being that the code is the same on all planes (well player a10s at lest) it would be nice to either set different codes in the ME or have random ones set... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Eddie Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Well.. Being that the code is the same on all planes (well player a10s at lest) it would be nice to either set different codes in the ME or have random ones set... Just change it during your startup process. When we fly in the 476th every aircraft uses a unique LASER code, just as in reality. It takes all of 15 seconds to change on the weapons themselves and the TGP. Although it would indeed be nice to set bomb LASER codes and DTC config from the ME/mission planner UI. Maybe one day.

SnowTiger Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 Thanks again you guys. I hope that someday I will be flying along side (or even against if need be) you online. BTW joey45 > I see your Modeling Reference Sites do not include Google SketchUp (now owned by Trimble). This what I have been doing for a living for the last few years (after 30 years in architectural design, drafting and inspection). http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?viewer=1379538105755232331646158&scoring=m SnowTiger AMD Ryzen 9 7950X - Zen 4 16-Core 4.5 GHz - Socket AM5 - 170W Desktop Processor ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI 6E Socket AM5 (LGA 1718) Ryzen 7000 gaming motherboard Geforce RTX 4090 Gaming Trio X - 24GB GDDR6X + META Quest 3 + Controllers + Warthog Throttle, CH Pro Pedals, VKB Gunfighter MKII MCG Pro G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo Series 64 GB RAM (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 RAM
