DIALUP CONNECTION, SO HOW BIG IS DOWNLOAD??

The title bout explains it, i can do about a 150mb download anything else takes so long i rather not even try,if not what's best store to find it?anyway thanks folks glad to join you, how's everyone enjoying it so far? :D

I'm assuming you are talking about the Flaming Cliff download. I'm not sure how big was it but it should not be downloaded through dial-up. It kills you just waiting for it. I suggest you buy a cd from naturalpoint or go pick it up at a store called Lock On Gold. Since u should already have the original LO, then i guess go with naturalpoint since its cheaper. The download is the cheapest but IMHO, its a little troublesome since you have to go through the activations. (i know others will disagree) Anyway...FC is great, hope you can get it soon.

The install file on it's own, without the new scenery pack or the movie pack, is 282Mb.

I said its standard but I didnt said i have it. I have a 2Mbit connex. 16 Mbit is the mainstream speed but I preffer to pay less. Righ now I have a 10GB Bandwith limit, plus 1.5 € for each exceeded GB. The 16MBit conex has a bandwith limit of 25GB but it also costs 12€ more.

yeah if your dialup is 1mbit + then it willbe good :)

I feel happy anyways, Freeserve who changed to wanadoo, has upgraded my line from 2down to 8down for nothing. this happened a few months back, so i have 8 down and unlimited download. if you join them now, they cap your download at 30gb a month.

Some of our ISP's are standardizing the 16Mbit connex for mainstream, because at the end of this year they intend to offer TV services through the same line as an alternative to Cable, but I heard there will be compromises, on its funcionality.

cant get NTL unfortunately but my Wanadoo (freeserve) is going up to 8meg soon..just got to wait..so I'll have to wait to use my 30gig usage to its fullest :)

16mbit, a good speed, i dunno about sharing it with tv tho, can you imaging laggy tv :S

 

I got digital tv, and at times its like watchin a blocky mpeg and certain conditions make it laggy and crap.

 

I would like to have 16mbit, but i dunno about shareing it with the tv signal.

chances are it will be cool tho ;)

 

Sleek, how long have you been with freeserve/wanadont for ? as I got an email back in june/july saying that since i have been a long time member that I will get my speed upgraded, and in begining of august i think it was, my speed went up without them even telling me that it was being done.

 

I was in middle of a 2gb download, the router lost its connection at about 1300mb, and when it came back on my speed had went up.

EDIT:

ah nevermind, i see by your 30gb cap, that you havent been with them for long. my bad, btw, freeserve allow you to actually download 45gb on the 30gb limit. they dont worry as long as you dont go above 40-45gb a month.

Depending on where you live I can also recommend SimWare as an alternative to NaturalPoint. They sit in Belgium and ship the CD within only few days all over Europe.
