104th_Crunch Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 If we keep asking for more and more in FC, when will ED ever have the time to work on the next DCS release? There are a million things FC3 could use. You gotta draw the line somewhere I think. On the other hand, with the F15 and Su27 high detail cockpits in place, why not go all out and them both to the level of DCS :)
danilop Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) Well, to be fair, which simulation functionality of the Flanker extant in the Flanker games do you miss in FC3? (R-77 doesn't count, for reasons that have been done in like 5000 other threads. :P ) Exclusivity? Or how about feeling that you have the best possible simulation of Russian jet possible on the PC? I remember times when SU27 was "cutting edge" in sim world. Now it's only part of survey package, even SU25T has far better flight model in DCS ;)! We need it as a stand alone DCS module for the reasons I already stated in Russian Jet Wish List thread. Edited December 31, 2012 by danilop
EtherealN Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Exclusivity? So if ED were to take the exact same Su-27 you have in FC3, and sell it separately, would you be happy? danilop Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) No. Exclusivity in sense that you had the best simulated Russian jet at the time (Flanker series) Edited December 31, 2012 by danilop
danilop Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) As far as I'm concerned FC3 was waste of time (I got it anyway, just to support ED ). It's obviously only meant to fill the gap until DCS: Fighter(s) arrive, and the difference is huge if you compare any plane from FC3 with DCS modules. It just feel inadequate after so much candy like AFM and such ... WE ARE SPOILED NOW! Edited December 31, 2012 by danilop

EtherealN Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 It's obviously only meant to fill the gap until DCS: Fighter(s) arrive While this is certainly one reason to have it, do not underestimate the portion of the market that wants survey simulators specifically. Witchking Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I think it's fair and a very good idea for Ed to consider making their own payware content for the mods section on DCS website. Rise of flight, world of tanks and other markets have shown the power of micro transactions. With DCS world, ED has taken the first step. So ED decide to upgrade and release each 6dof cockpit for 10$, they can still keep the existing 2d pits as default and separately overwrite that content when a user buys and installs a cockpit from a main cockpit lua file/call procedure. I think it's a nice idea and it can be a good marketing experiment for ED.
