Ratfink Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I'll soon be ordering a new rig to replace my aging one (which will become my office machine). Am I right, that before I install DCSW and modules on the new rig I need to deactivate them all individually first off the old rig? Then activate on new once loaded? I have A-10, P-51 and BS2 Upgrade modules. (Plus standalone A-10, BS1, FC2 FWIW) I plan to get FC3 too later on, which requires LOMAC, so I guess when the new one arrives I will need to:- 1. Install BS1 from DVD (to allow for BS2 Upgrade later) 2. Install latest DCSW (download) 3. Install latest A-10, P-51, BS2U modules (downloads) 4. Activate using key codes I have already 5. Install LOMAC (already have original CD) 6. Install FC3 (download) 7. Purchase FC3 key and activate Is that order about right? Do I need to activate BS1, or just have it installed? EtherealN Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 You don't strictly need to deactivate on the old one - what deactivating on the old one does is make sure that you will re-use the activation you already spent on the new one, thus ensuring that you do not spend a new activation on the new machine. If you choose to deactivate, I would suggest doing it for all products, including BS1, unless you have reason to want to keep them on the old machine. In the end, the worst thing that can happen (ie if you don't deactivate) is that you'll just spend an activation. Your install order is correct. Yes BS1 must be activated. Ratfink Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 New rig is now on order, and will have the now 'normal' config of a 240GB SDD and a 1TB HDD. I'm assuming that it's advisable to install DCS to the SDD, but I don't want to waste space with BS1 and LOMAC (for the benefit of BS2U and FC3). Presumably these can be installed and activated off the HDD. DCS on the SDD will find the activated products via the registry?
