DCS World V-1.2.2.7570. Black shark 2 module, same V#.

While on the ground the radio functions correctly. It tunes to the tower. Can request "start up", "taxi", and "takeoff." Can even tune into wing man calling out "rolling," "wheels up," or anything the wing man might say during a mission.

But no matter what key function pressed( the keyboard "\" or a mapped joystick button) while in the air the communication menu will not open. It is possible to land and the menu is active again. But cannot open menu to talk to ATC or wing man while in flight.

The in the A-10C module, I also have, the radios work perfectly at all time.

Is there a different key function that I am not aware of? or is this an actual bug?

I had the same problem - you probably have "Realistic radio communications" enabled. Then you will need to map a key to the SPU-9 radio. It should be in the controller options. You'll need to use the SPU-9 key to talk once off the ground; not the normal \ key for radio communications.

I believe this behaviour changed during a recent patch.

SPU-9 is a knob that selects radio you are sending on. It should not have to be moved from VHF-2 to talk to ATC.

It is most likely a bug. DCS World BS has quite a collection of them. I've seen the ATC not replying bug reported before.

Right alt + # is the key. Depends where you are.

Right Alt + OEM102 for me! Well that's what DCSW sees when I press my \ key anyway.
