El Hadji Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Hi, I'm a n00b that have reached a point with A-10C when its time to explore some more advanced features. Yesterday I wanted to create a flight plan using the CDU. I followed Snoopys guide "Creating a new flight plan" that I downloaded from this website. Unfortunatly it didn't go as planned... When I reach Step 5 in the guide and press LSK L3 to enter the added waypoint into the system, nothing happens. What could I be doing wrong? All systems are up and running (as far as I can tell...). Appreciate any help! The LT Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 That is probably the hardest thing for me after air refuelling. :)) My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat
El Hadji Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 air refuelling. :)) Haven't even thought of trying that yet! :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My computer specs below: CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K@4.2GHz | CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100 | GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 680 2GB Lightning 2GB VRAM @1.3GHz | RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3 1600 | SSD 1: Corsair Force 3 120GB (SATA 6) | SSD 2: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (SATA 6) | Hybrid disc: Seagate Momentus Hybrid 500/4GB (SATA 3) | Keyboard: QPAD MK-85 | Mouse: QPAD 5K LE | TrackIR 5 + Track Clip Pro | Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog | MFG Crosswind | OS: Win7/64
The LT Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Haven't even thought of trying that yet! :joystick: Just tried that today, and it's quite tough. I've found out you would want the air refueling slipway button mapped to your stick as you'll have to cycle the refuelling system quite a few times before you get the hang of it. It is fun though. :) My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat
PhoenixBvo Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I've found out you would want the air refueling slipway button mapped to your stick The NWS (Nosewheel Steering button on the stick) doubles as refueling disconnect/reset button when the refueling gate is opened. You don't have to close and open the gate itself should you have accidentally exceeded the boom's operating margins. Actually the pilot should disconnect (using the NWS) before the connection breaks by itself, e.g. when you start oscillating or pass into the red part of the boom. El Hadji Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 Yay! That video did the trick! Thanx! Another question: if I accidently place a marker point in the wrong spot can I delete it or revert my actions without resetting the CDU? The Snoopy guide that I am referring to in my o.p. in this thread is explaining how to manually enter lat/long coordinates into the CDU and I'm still having trouble entering the waypoint data that way. Does anybody know any video tutorials on this subject? I have googled it with no results... FreeFall Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 AFAIK, you cannot delete Markpoints. About entering coordinates, check the JTAC Guides (pdf-files) from Eagle Wiki: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS:_A-10C_Training_Supplements
Vortex225 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) I have found Gerry Abbott's videos to be very helpful during my training missions. Here is a pertinent CDU tutorial: ExcessiveHeadspace has a great JDAM tutorial that demonstrates how to use flight plans for combat situations. CDU offsets are very important too. Here is a training video from Tigerpwrr: http://youtu.be/lZYhfO9-Elk As always, check the ED Wiki for more information: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS:_A-10C_Training_Supplements http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS_A-10C_Guides,_Tutorials_and_Reference_Documents Edited January 22, 2013 by Echo225
