I am playing the great Jackal campaign, but would like to start on runway. However, when I enter the mission editor, it seems my A icon is locked to have a cold start. Can I somehow change this to Runway?

So to be clear - you can't just select the initial waypoint and change the waypoint type using the dropdown from start on runway to start from 'apron' (or however it's phrased) ? the non - 'start on runway' start option being the cold start option ?

Cheers.

Are you sure that you opened the mission in the mission editor? What you describe seems to be the "Mission Planner" that can be accessed prior to flying the mission. I believe the initial waypoint can't be changed there.

Instead, you'd have to launch the "Mission Editor" from the DCS start screen, open the campaign files from your hard disc, change the first waypoint, save the missions, and that should do it. But I can't guarantee that this won't break anything. Maybe Quirk! can elaborate on that.

This is exactly what you need to do. The mission planner does not allow for this, so you'll need to manually edit the files. There should be no problems with the missions if you start on the runway, it wont change the outcome or timing of anything for any of the missions for the campaign.

With a video explanation? Now that is customer service. :)

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Quirk! again." :(

Yeah, made the video more so because this question, I have seen come up so many times over the years....maybe a video will help others out if they see it. Simple thing but lots of new people don't know.
