David Rance Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I posted a request for support on 23.1.2013 & 24.1.2013 but have had no response todate. DCS does not open after installation and I have the same error messages as others reported here viz:"Application unable to start correctly(0xc000007b). I purchased FC3 but this does not run without DCS so I cannot use the sim. If this is not going to work a refund would be appreciated. How long does it nornally take to reply to support requests?
Hellfire257 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 From what I've been told and observed, they can be fairly swift to two weeks and beyond.
bengo Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 David, have you seen this : Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 3 will require an installation of Lock On: Modern Air Combat or previous version Flaming Cliffs. Also, FC3 is an add-on to DCS-World. DCS-world is free. Also, post up your hardware specs and your OS-version. i7 6700k/GTX1070-8G/MSI-Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon/32GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX PREDATOR DDR4 3000MHZ Vengeance 1600/TM Warthog #6106/Samsung SB350_S27B350H/OCZ Agility3 SSD 128GB / Win10-64/TIR5

159th_Viper Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 but I only installed DCS to Flaming Cliffs 2 How did you manage to do that? Installed DCS to your FC2 directory? bengo Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I have both Lock On Modern Air Combat ,Flaming Cliffs2 & A-10C Warthog but I only installed DCS to Flaming Cliffs 2 Hi David, just to be clear, here's how it works : -download and install DCS-World (this is the base for all add-ons) -download and install FC3-add-on (only install if you've got the original Lomac and/or FC2 installed) -download and install latest DCS-A10 add-on and install. Currently we are at version 1.2.2 for World, A10C and FC3. Hope this solves it for you. David Rance Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Thanks to all those who have replied to the issue I have raised. However none of your suggestions however well meaning have resolved the problem. The fact is there is some sort of bug in the installation process which effects some systems and mine is one of them! I have uninstalled and reinstalled four times in both the x86 programme section and the default C drive but the same error message appears and the the sim will not open no matter how I instal the files which I have put all in one folder as per the installation instructions. If I was the only one with the issue then perhaps one could say it's something I am doing wrong but I am not new to sims having installed all manor of them over the past ten years! The fact is there are a number of people with exactly the same problem and we can't all be doing it wrong. The issue needs to be acknowledged and addressed by the developers and until then those with the problem will just have to wait. I appreciate that DCS world is free but I paid full price for Flaming Cliffs 3 and this will not instal without DCS World. Since DCS World will not open or run I cannot use Flaming Cliffs 3 which I have paid for and therefore the programme at present is useless. That is why I have asked for a refund. I do not think I am being unreasonable but if someone thinks asking for my money back for something that does not work is being unreasonable then please tell me why this is.
bengo Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 David, sorry to see your problem didn't get fixed. Have you seen this : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=95562&highlight=Application+unable+start+correctly%280xc000007b%29 i7 6700k/GTX1070-8G/MSI-Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon/32GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX PREDATOR DDR4 3000MHZ Vengeance 1600/TM Warthog #6106/Samsung SB350_S27B350H/OCZ Agility3 SSD 128GB / Win10-64/TIR5
Quirkitized Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Have you tried updating/reinstalling Microsoft visual C++? I thought it came with the install, can't remember tho... edit: sniped by bengo.. :D
David Rance Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Thanks again guys for trying to help with this. Yes I have the latest C++ microsoft files and have a registry cleaner and have cleaned before reinstalling but unfortunately nothing makes any difference. I'm going to download the files from Torrent to see if this makes any difference and will report back if this fixes the problem so others can know if this works. Other than that I'm afraid I'm back to the problem which by all accounts is difficult to resolve for those having the issue. I have a feeling that the problem lies with the OS on some systems but I'm no expert!
David Rance Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 Well I said I would report back after trying the DCS World from Torrent which BTW took 3 days to download but the files are exactly the same as those from the separate download section and therefore do not work. I have now tried every conceivable method of installation all without success including removing all the microsoft C++ files before re-installing both with and without the C++ installer check box ticked and unticked, with and without DX ticked and unticked etc.etc. but nothing works and the same error message appears every time. Although I am no computer expert it seems to me that there is some sort of conflict between the installer/launcher and the Windows 7 OS and nothing the enduser is going to fix for those who have the problem. Only the developers can help with the issue if they are prepared to acknowlegde the problem and fix it. Until then those with the issue are just going to have to wait or perhaps never get to use DCS World.
simpleton216 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I recently had the same problem, to fix it in my case I ran windows updates and a Visual Studio update fixed it.
David Rance Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Thanks for advising about this fix. Unfortunately this didn't work for me at least not for Visual Studios 2010 sp1 update or for that matterr any of the C++ Visual Studios versions I have installed right back to 2005!!
Financeman Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Sorry to hear and feel your frustration. I have not met any experts yet, many claim it, beware. I believe we all go through some teething problems will all simulators. I encourage you to keep working at it. I am having frustration with my controllers although I know there is a solution out there. I work at it or else its back to shooters. subi Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hi David I promised to get back to you if I could get the problem fixed. Well I now have the problem fixed. My IT guy from work returned from holidays and has fixed the problem for me. I am not even remotely computer literate - so I hope that you can benefit from this description. The problem was with the Msvcr100.dll file in my Windows 7 install. My business uses 8 PCs and the one I use at home for gaming was the problem. DCS World loaded and played on all 3 of my work PCs that I tried. The IT guy ran a program that isolated the file that was creating the problem on my home PC and he simply copied the file from one my my other computers to my home gaming computer. It now works for me. The strange thing is that I purchased all 8 PCs from the same distributors - how does something like that happen? Anyway - I have some understanding and sympathy for the ED guys. I hate to say it, but my evidence suggests it is the luck of the draw and is probably associated with the relevant PC and the Windows installation that you have. Hope my information helps you resolve the problem.
David Rance Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) Hi subi Thanks for the info. This would however only be helpful to me if I had the file you mentioned. Is there any way I could somehow get a copy of the file correcting the problem? I have just researched this and it seems it may be that your Msvcr100.dll was missing but mine is not so I'm not at all sure if this is a resolution for me. I beleive the file is part of the Microsoft C++ Visual package and as I already have this installed with the Msvcr100.dll file in place it seems that this is not my problem unless Microsoft have issued a file correction but I cannot find any reference to this at their site.
