I'm a bit confused reading thru a few threads, so right to the chase I will go. Been flying the same server for the last month then all of a sudden, Im in the server and im watching all the planes near by bounce all over the place. My ping was 66, so not being an IT guy, I was getting some assistance from other players.

Some thoughts were packet looses, ipchange?, port forwarding. A "tracert" from the command prompt yielded a message that the HOPs exceeded 30 (no idea what that means).

Let me start here, I can access my router, I suppose I want to 1st off confirm the appropriate port(s) are open. From what I can see, I need to concern myself with port 10308, and associate it with an IP? Now I dont know what IP to associate it as I seemingly understand that I have the computers IP, and then there is the public one.

I managed to portforward port 10308 to my computer IP of 192.168.1.3, but after doing a portforward check from this site http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

It says that this port is closed? Dont know if thats because Im supposed to associate the prtforward with my Router IP or computer IP or Public IP?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Have the same problem, wanted to host a server yesterday.

First I opened port 10308, the standard server port. -> No Connection

I thought maybe there is a general problem, so I switched my PC to the DMZ. Server was visible in the list, and connection was possible.

But I have a real server here (which doesn't run DCS..), so my DMZ is set to this server, not the PC.

Then I searched for further ports used by DCS, I started the server and logged all ports:

netstat -a >> c:\tmp\log1.txt

Then I stopped the server:

netstat -a >> c:\tmp\log2.txt

I compared the files via excel and filtered the ports that are there only when the server is running and opened these ports.

Result: 1 friend was able to see the server on the list, but can't connect, 1 other friend wasn't able to see the server on the list.

I am out of ideas now...

Good luck on your end. I dont think I need to pursue this matter regarding port forwarding? My current understanding now is that since Im only connecting to other servers, I dont need to do any port forwarding since Im not looking to host. As far as my other issues, I have some video card problems (artifacting) that I am RMA ing, I now understand that could be a culprit. My Internet connections are 40 Mbps Down and 11 Mbps up, with 5ms. I believe I have other issues
