WildBillKelsoe Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Hello, after kicking the AI in the butt, I wanna get the whole potential!!! Any VFW here (preferably from Germany or United Kingdom for connection speed) doing pure A2A combat? I'd like to practice with humans and get into a firefight!!! I'm Currently affiliated with VTA and they seem busy doing formation flying. I'm free all week, at night (9PM-1AM, GMT +2 timezone). Thanks AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
VIMANAMAN Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) Hey Bill, I'd be up for some MP A2A practise mate - I'm GMT - I want to do some SP today as I haven't flown in over a week - but tomorrow would be perfect for me - how about you? I've got an OK/good connection (usually) and TS but never used it - do we need to rustle up a quick MP / client orientated mission or do you have one / know of one already? I have only done a tiny bit of MP - but would be well up for it:) Let me know if this works for you. [Edit - Just worked out what VFW stands for - doh! - if you want some 1v1 practise let me know - End Edit] Edited February 9, 2013 by VIMANAMAN
WildBillKelsoe Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) I was thinking like today around 8 PM your time. Not sure about tomorrow, but I have a great idea. Check PM. EDIT: About the mission, we can use the 1-v-1 mission and just change skills to client. VIMANAMAN Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Hi Bill - just pinged a PM at you. Off line again for a bit will check in later dude.
Kilo hairline Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Im ready to fly now. Are you setting up a server? Im looking to join/form a goup flying mostly p-51....there doesnt seem to be many of us online :-(
VIMANAMAN Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Hey Kilo, I at least have hardly done any MP stuff but Bill and I are looking to set something informal up - let me get one session under my belt and then I'd be well up for flying with you dude. I've got a very simple A2A MP mission I've just rustled up which I'm pretty sure I can host, but not yet tested. It has all the essentials so should be fine. What GMT are you dude? Let me know and I'll get back to you soon - V
Kilo hairline Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Im at time zone zulu -8 (Pacific Time US). Let me know if you put something up. I have played a few p-51 MP sessions. Its really great except a2a is difficult because targets are not really visible until you are too close. The guys I played with sent me a simple .lua file that makes it easier to see other aircraft from a distance and it works pretty good. Im the meantime I am fooling around with the mission editor to see if I can create a basic MP mission. I am mostly interested in forming a litte squad to fly co-op on some good homemade missions.
Horseback-1 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Check us out: http://www.v4thFG.com While we aren't 100% Air to Air, we do a fair amount of it in the 51 along with A2G missions Edited February 10, 2013 by Horseback-1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
VIMANAMAN Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Sheet I wish I lived in the States! A few VF groups dotted around I see. Am I right in thinking that the ping rate is critical to 'frame rates' and the further away from the the host / server you are globally speaking, the lower the ping / frame rate? That's what I understand, but new to MP - anyone know for sure? Not to mention the time dif :(

That's what I understand, but new to MP - anyone know for sure? Not to mention the time dif :( I am not so sure about that concerning those parameters. Any ping below 500 seems OK for me including other online games. Some servers have restrictions below 200 ping rate. The China servers I play on are well over 300. It might be a concern if using a bullet string instead of missiles. I have found in Multiplayer if the server I am looking to get on has a high ping rate, just doing a new search refreshing the server list will sometimes get me a lower ping rate for a targeted server. Echo38 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Ping and frame rate have nothing to do with each other, except that they both get called "lag" by the layman. They're very different things and almost never affect each other--I've only seen one game, out of the hundreds I've played, in which the two interacted at all (and it was a very, very buggy game). Ping is the delay in a packet of information being sent from one computer to another. Frame rate is the number of times per second a new picture is drawn on your monitor. Poor ping (high) results in a desynchronization between what one player experiences and what the other experiences; both players are generally affected. Poor frame rate (low) results in only the affected player experiencing a "slide show," making it difficult to judge motion. Edited May 8, 2013 by Echo38
Der_Fred Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 WildBillKelsoe: I can probably assist in setting flares on your azz... I'm sitting at GMT+2.. but you must provide a IP for a server, and some TS if available (We have one) We have a few guys here (+- 3 or 4) that will join, but we're sitting at a ping of around 200ms... which isn't too bad. all I must do now is wrestle my stick and bandwidth from my protege's... we can make a plan :)
