TGP, why on the wing?

I've rewritten A-10C's weaponloadout lua a long time ago to have some more loadouts to choose from in the comms menu, clean up the codeorder and insert unused pylons again. I found that alot of times the TGP view was more blocked by other weapons and elements from the aircraft itself. It doesn't look too bad, however looses function.

 

The ECM in the middle looks oddly rediculous. When you like your looks as well as functionality, you're best off where stuff is now.

 

 

PS. For the guy/girl that wrote the lua-file responsible for placement: he has a problem with order and counting, you're lucky the file works as it is or has been done on purpose to make modifying more difficult for dislects.

And that's why i'm currently not using the modified file. However, carry some extra weapons that saves a returntrip to base in a very long mission is worth something too when theres nobody that bothers.

On multiplayer being exclusive has it's charms too when you have that extra fancy CBU/GBU in the middle or also AIM9's on the other side and someone notices.

Because that "pylon" is not designed to carry anything other than the pave penny, and wouldn't support nearly 500lbs of LITENING or SNIPER pod. You'd also have issues with gun gases getting into the pods cooling system and messing things up.

 

Not to mention still having to do all the re-wiring you have to do to put the pod on an existing station, so put simply you'd gain nothing at all.

 

Masking is not nearly the issue people think it is. At least not in the real world where aircraft are flown by trained and experienced pilots and not gamers/keyboard warriors, who always think they know better.

 

Yeah, I'm one of them.

 

And even after your remark, I stil think that a TGP with an extra A/A-Option mounted under the belly-centerline would be pretty much useless for that role on an aircraft that is designed to fly mud-level.

 

Besides that, putting that sensitive hightech-optics directly behind the muzzle of a 30-mm-Gattling-Gun doesn't actually help its longlivety. Remember, the PavePenny has a long mount and is offset at the side for a reason.

 

 

Not saying these are the main reasons. But even keyboard-warriors like me can make logic conclusions.

I've always wondered why above the right hand side wheel housing/fairing it is painted black,while the left side isn't.

No sir, it's the ILS antenna... The left side is W79 which gives you access to the single point refueling receptacle and the ground fuel control panel.
