Alright so the good news is that I put together a IR head tracker device. Finally got it working last night and did the first instant action mission and it was way cool.

So the bad news....I have to uninstall CL-eye and reinstall CL-eye everytime I want to run FT. Then, once I have FT working, if i try to make any changes to frame rate the screen goes black and I have to start the whole process over again.

So I can get it working but it's freaking annoying to have to go through all that crap. PS3 camera was widely recommended but what a hassel. Should I just get a cheap ass web cam that plays nice with freetrack?

I know there is alott of stuff out there on the subject but Ive been searching for a fix for 24 hours and I'm tired of it.

Any help is MUCH appreciated.

Thanks

Im on mobile, i apologise in advance for brevity/errors...

- I've noticed that you need to stop the tracking before you make any changes to frame rate or resolution.

- I have some USB devices that don't play nice with the eye, namely a saitek yoke/quadrant. You might try running tracking with everything else unplugged, just to test.

- I'm not sure why you are having to uninstall/reinstall each time... So you mean you have to mess with the drivers, or just the USB plug?

It's a sweet setup once you get it working... Hopefully you can get it sorted.

Hi, I use the same setup and I had same errors... sort of.

I have the latest driver of Cl Eye.

To make it work you have to:

1. Make sure your camera is not On by a previous failed attempt or if you let it on when you restart/turned off your computer... the Red LED means is On.

2. If it is On and you get errors when starting FreeTrack tracking stop Freeatrack (including Dummy TrackIR exe) from Task manager if necessary and then just start and stop the Cl EyE camera check program provided with the drivers. This will reset camera state back to OFF.

3. When FreeTrack is Started without previous problems first click on STREAM button... first time sett your desired resolution and FPS... I use 320x240 and 112FPS (I wished for 120 but it won't work)

4. Then press START and Freetrack should start with no problem this time.

Sometimes... extremely rare it won't work... even after this... "tradition" or "ritual" but just repeat it once more... and it will work.

If it crashes.... very very rare... make sure:

1. camera is stopped

2. restart FT but first make the ritualistic check on Stream button (just click on it and then close it)

3. Start FT and wait for it to show you the 3 LED

4. Alt+Tab back to game.

What OS is everyone using?

I'm still on win7 with no issues and have been thinking of updating to Win8 but fear I'm heading into a minefield getting things working again.

cheers

Gracias! Did some test shut downs and start ups. Worked everytime just like you said. Thanks Again!!!

LOL

Yes there is a shut down sequence. Stop tracking and then stop FT. Failing to do that and stopping the PC will let the camera ON if power to USB is provided even with PC stopped. Restarting PC with camera in traking/ON mode and attempting to start FT will will fail as I said above. :D
