S77th-ReOrdain Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Tried unsuccessfully to add mission sounds as a trigger action in the new mission editor. Updated to 1.2.3.9871 using the autoupdater. There's a new drop down menu that's accessible to select the sound of choice when trying to add "Sound to All", "Sound to Country" or "Sound to Coalition", but selecting sounds only results in "File does not Exist". Same results when trying to add "Radio Transmission" sound. Am I doing something wrong?
Grimes Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Anything in the savedgames/DCS/logs/me.log file? Could you attach a sample audio file that isn't being added? S77th-ReOrdain Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Thanks Grimes. I did a fresh install and deleted the User/DCS folder thinking the problem may have been with the autoupdater. This turned out not to be the case. Results were the same. After some frustration, I clicked on another folder with sound files in it, and the menu screen behaved as it should. Hmmm, strange. Come to find out, I had one corrupt file in the initial sound folder I was attempting to use. Deleted the file. Problem solved. I appreciate you offering to take the time to look into this matter.
Mojeaux Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) Yep ...I'm not able to select a sound file for a triggered action...The folder that I normaly keep my sound files in is unable to be opened..however..if I put the sound file in the folder preceeding the normal folder I keep them in I was able to access that file (ogg) and use it! Edited March 1, 2013 by Mojeaux the need to expand my statement [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
S77th-ReOrdain Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) Hey Mojeaux, Not sure which OS you run, but the way I determined which file was corrupt was by looking at the details list of files in windows explorer. IIRC, I believe the file in question was missing the info for Date Modified. Either way, I suggest you take a quick peek at the files in your sound folder to see if anything looks unusual. If you find something, once the wonky file is deleted, all should be well. Edited March 1, 2013 by S77th-ReOrdain

Looking into the ME a little more I have now discovered that I can no longer Access ANY sound files the route I am taking is 'The ME / Trigger rules / Actions / Sound to ALL (or any other sound to any body!) / The Open button" The Open button will not even open to the file list nouthing now no reaction with that button...this will put a huge dent in my mission making.... rebooting produces no advantage! The "Open" button now is "OPN" hehe OMG it's getting worse ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
S77th-ReOrdain Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Yep, Sounds like the same behavior illustrated in the (2) screenshots in the first post. Take a look at that folder. My guess is you'll find the culprit.

Speed Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) I'd like to see me.log- until then, it's hard to speculate about what the problem really is. me.log would quite likely say exactly what the problem is. So please, upload me.log right after experiencing this problem. Also, if the problem file can be identified, could you please upload it here? The best way to get the bug fixed is to give us the file- then we can hopefully reproduce the bug, and send it on to the developers... then next patch (or maybe even sooner) the problem can be fixed. Furthermore since the ME is programmed in Lua, it would probably be possible to fix the bug in a simple Lua mod, rather than have to wait for the next patch. What I ended up doing to get the ME to allow the sound files to be used from the ME was... 1. I had to go through one by one and add the sound files to a new file for qualified working sound files. and test with a sound to all option! 2. At that point I was able to choose the files that qualified for use with the ME... 3. As I went through the files one by one.. I would stumble across a sound file that would block the access to the New Folder that was how I was able to filter out the non-ME qualified sound file... 4. I ran across several sound files that use to work just fine but now they don't with the 123 set up.. Those files had to be deleated! 5. As stated above..after removing the sound files that prevented me from entering my normal sound file storage folder I can assign sound files to the ME 6. If so much as 1 sound file that was corrupt, that ME folder would NOT allow access to any of the sound files in that folder! 7.What a pain in the ARCE!!!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
S77th-ReOrdain Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Mojeaux, good to hear you got it sorted. Speed, Unfortunately, I deleted my problem file. Similar to Mojeaux's experience, the file in question worked fine with all installs prior to 1.2.3. No clue how the file got corrupted, but the only other clue can offer is that it was called "pickle.ogg" and was extracted from a previous ED title (Lock On, Flaming Cliffs, or A-10C). Not exactly sure which one, as I've used it for so long without incident. No need for me to post me.log or me.log.old and waste your time with that. Especially since they look gorgeous with Slmod and MIST loading properly.
-Demon- Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Hi there, I am experiencing similar problems with the soundfiles. The only difference is, that I use about 8 soundfiles, which I made with Audacity and they are all playing well with the call of "sound to all" in the actions for a trigger except for that one file. The is called keepFL80.ogg. The file plays well in other programms, so its not corruptet. But when I load that one in ME, and press play it plays the sound but in the mission itself it doesnt play the file. Back in ME I hit the play button again, and it won't play it either. So I deleted the file, remade it and loaded it again in ME. Same result, ME doesn't play the sound. I afterwards renamed the file to "keep FL80.ogg" and ME played the file. BAck in the mission, the sound was not played again. Any idea what that could be? Thanks for any hints. I am using the latest patch of 1.2.3 and all drivers and software is up to date. Thanks in advance and cheers Demon [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Founder of the -=VDS=- http://www.virtual-dragon-squadron.de:pilotfly:
ED Team USSR_Rik Posted March 15, 2013 ED Team Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) Please attach here this .ogg file and me.log created after saving this mission. Do you use this sound file in several triggers in your mission? Edited March 15, 2013 by USSR_Rik Men may keep a sort of level of good, but no man has ever been able to keep on one level of evil. Thanks in advance and cheers Demon Open the .miz file, and see if there are any sound files with "0" bytes, if there is, manually add the file to the .miz package (drag and drop or copy & paste.) This happens to me sometimes, usually when I copy a trigger that has a sound file, sound to all. If this isn't the case, then ignore...
-Demon- Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) Hey all, thanks a lot for the fast replys! Indeed, I think I rteally cloned the sound to all action. Jesus, I just looked at my log file.
