V.1.2.3 Mig29S Hud Speed indicator bug when switching from Nav to Air to Air… Edit: same thing with the su27…

I had a metric speed indicator of 500 then switch to air to air and I had 1200(Russian symbol)

It's switching from Indicated to True airspeed.

 

So it's a feature and not a bug? Just wondering due to the Russian symbol besides it...

CAS/IAS is useful when you're flying. It tells you how your plane's performing in terms of flying qualities.

 

TAS is useful in BVR, when you want to know how much energy you have and how much energy you're about to impart to that missile, as well as for making those mental timing calculations based on closure.

 

So it's a feature and not a bug? Just wondering due to the Russian symbol besides it...

600 kph = 10km/min. I hope that explains everything :)

Would it be better to have a key combo to switch to true air speed instead?

There's no 'key combo' for it in the real plane. You go BVR/lock target, it displays TAS.

Why I'm asking, this "feature" I never noticed it within my 10 years+ flying lomac skys. I'm I wrong? So I learn something new :D I'm ok with it though, thought was a bug, but thanks for putting me straight ;)
