DCS 1.2.3 - mutiple waypoints route settings for airframes

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to report something that it's more an issue that a real bug:

when you create any kind of new route for air units (either helicopter or airplanes) it use this settings: alert green , 432 km/h and 2000 mt. And those are pretty impossibile for helos (expecially the speed).

But also, and worse, anytime your helos or airframes change waypoints, they always modify route settings for "alert - GREEN", 432 km/h and 2000 mt. That makes impossible to setup a flight and forget about it for some waypoints.

Is it possible that:

1. they keep steerpoint settings while routing between successive waypoints;

2. they keep actual steerpoint settings when you create a new route;

Thanks in advance,

Lorenzo

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

uhm... while I'm pretty confident that with 76 views at least one of the tester has seen this, I'm thinking to open a support ticket to make this "officially" part of the debug process... or it's unuseful?

or... maybe I'm the only one with this issue... and it's not a bug but simply something related to my system/install... anyone that confirm that manually entered flight plan for aircraft or helo have the same behaviors?

If no one gets back to you be the time I get home to my puter I will try to reproduce.

In my test those flight hasn't any waypoint, cause they are intendet to be parked and used at discretion of the Ground Commander / AWACS role, so I didn't notice that.

Yeah, I noticed after I made my own test mission with a number of different unit types, the ground ones showed the original path, the air units didnt. I dont know if this is by design or just an oversight, so I pointed it out as well.

All unit types had the jump in speed (obviously ground units dont have an altitude setting).

I'm asking for an update: is it known if this bug and, most important, the multiplayer client unable to control AI flight bug are going to be solved in 1.2.4?

thanks in advance for the answer, if possible.

No idea at this point, but the issue I reported from this thread is assigned to be worked on, that's all I can say at this point.

I'll look later and see if the multiplayer issue still exists in tester versions of the sim and if so I will report it if it hasn't been already.

It was confirmed to me that flights should be controllable by clients in multiplayer so its a bug or something not implemented yet, its a WIP, so not sure when full functionality will be ready.

I did also raise concerns about all clients being able to edit flights... I feel it should be able to be limited to one certain role (ie only ground commander can edit flights)... the chaos that would ensue if everyone could edit that one flight could be an issue :)
