WildBillKelsoe Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 blue on blue incidents are most unfortunate.. I just watched the 2003 CAS video. First off, the ground JTAC is a fVcken moron... he says there are no friendlies, yet he issues friendlies box area XXX AFTER the rounds left. I mean really fVcked up... In the end, both the A-10's AND JTAC deserve what they got (if they did) AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

In the end, both the A-10's AND JTAC deserve what they got (if they did) The JTAC didn't get anything, he was with a different troop of scimitars at the time and having watched it there's a lot of confusion about what the A-10's are talking about. Having 3/4 T-55's and a few BMP's bearing down on him at the time must have made him pretty desperate since one hummer and one scimitar are gonna have a hell of a job managing that.I admit "orange rockets" on vehicles heading north is a bloody strange idea. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

aaron886 Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 That's his point. It's far too easy to come up with "armchair pilot" claims. If you've got it all figured out, I should hope you're (both) either a real life JTAC or attack pilot. Videogame egos...
monotwix Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Nice pixels in your real life text. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

If you've got it all figured out, I should hope you're (both) either a real life JTAC or attack pilot. Videogame egos... Haven't seen the video (at work), and I agree it can be easy to be judgemental from behind the keyboard, but I'd also say - you don't have to be a proffesional football player to see when someone drops the ball, and implying that only someone who's been in that position is able to criticise (would put a lot of coaches out of work, and) starts the roll down that slippery slope of 'it's unpatriotic to criticise the actions of soldiers on the front line', 'it's unpatriotic to criticise military leaders during conflicts' and eventually to 'it's unpartiotic to criticise the military - ever' Which history shows leads to some bad places (even for countries that thought they were the greatest country the worlld have ever seen - and there have been a few of those :-) Cheers.

aaron886 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 'it's unpatriotic to criticise military leaders during conflicts' No, I'm implying that it's idiotic to criticize anyone (especially in such a serious situation) for something you essentially have no knowledge of. Your football analogy is a weak comparison, and you know it. To make that comparison remotely fair, the coach would have to be a couch potato with a subscription to ESPN and a loud mouth. To make it legitimate, the players would have to be killing each other. The problem is that people think because they own an A-10 simulator on their computer, they are now a subject-matter expert and are duly equipped to make light commentary on serious, real-life decisions that affect peoples' lives. This is a game, the video above is not. Sorry if I'm getting a little riled up.

I agree with everything you said above, and no, I don't judge RL action because I'm not an A-10 pilot. All I'm saying is that they deserve punishment for unlawful killing. Kevlon Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 why not share your thoughts then :smartass: like others have mentioned already, there is no point in criticizing the JTAC, he did the best he could. Imagine worring about your guys, the "enemy" and hell raining down from above. Whats the point to criticizing something like that, the situation must have been extremely chaotic. That's my point. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
