I find it quite difficult to do a soft landing in MiG29. I follow the ILS, both circles aligned and keep them in the middle till the very end, do the flare..but whatever I try, it always touches down harder then I would prefer. It seems the decent rate is too high BUT as I said, I'm following the suggested speed, angle, ILS..all the stuff.and still, it tends to hit the runway harder then anticipated. Flaring in F15 (before the 1.2.3 bug that is) and Su is easy. In Flanker, right before the touchdown, I raise the nose up to 8 degress and do the soft landing..but in Mig, whatever I do, it just lands too hard..Anyone having a similar problem? Any suggestions?

Yes I agree...after 1.2.3 I was braking my landing gear 3 landings in a row. Now I watch my vertical velocity very carefully, I try to keep it less than 150 meters a minute.

Haven't tried the f-15 yet.

BTW, check this video of RL 29 landing, looks like the pilot is not using the ILS circles, at least they're not visible in the HUD:

Is he perhaps relying on the analog instruments? If yes, why? Wouldn't be easier to use the HUD instead (just thinking out loud)?

Maybe he just used his eyeballs :smartass:

Yeah but..what was his point of reference when landing like that?

LZSL doesn't have ILS for RWY 18 that this guy is using, nor is there any IFR procedure for that RWY. Therefore - eyeballin' it all the way to the ground.

Also - landing speed guidance is too low, by about 50 km/h (known bug) - so fly approach on 280 km/h, not 230 - AoA will be lower, landing smoother.

I have found it harder to land since the 1.2.3 yes landing speed should be 290-300 and max 1m/s dropp in altitude..

anyone else noticed takeoff has gotten strange... it takes a few sec before u can pull on the stick hard

Oh man, I wasn't aware of that bug..and I was always doing it by the book (following the suggested landing speed) and was wondering why I touchdown harder then expected.. Thanks for the info! :)
