bladechaser Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 ok so im very new to dcs a10 .. but loving it more than any other flight sim ive tried but the reason i mainly got this game was so me and 2 of my buddies could play together online now ive read everything i can find here and on the net about hosting a a10 server .. i got the server up and running i will add at this point all i did was run it from my main comp to test the settings before i get a stand alone so i run the server i log in and give the details to my friend .. he cant log in so then i give him my ip address -- he cant log in so then here is the key to my question .. i am using a virgin media super hub.. i went in and opened the port forwarding for 10308 the port in game .. now my friend still cant see my server or even connect by ip i suppose my main question is (yes i have searched the forums) im a noob .. and im wondering if anyone from the uk runs a server through virgin media and can maybe offer any tips to getting a server running so my buddies can connect oh to add i set up a server through the internet and lan settings and no luck either way
Mustang Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I have a similar super hub setup and if i don't disable windows firewall my server won't show either, have you tried that?
bladechaser Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 i never have windows firewall on anyway .. its one of the first things i turn off
JujuMan Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) Make sure that when you create a server, in the top right of window it says Source - INTERNET, and Connect by IP.. When I first started the MP side of DCS , windows 7 Firewall popped up behind and asks for permission for DCS to have access to the Internet, just a thought . Also check that you are giving out the right IP address. Check yours at whatsmyip.com I run mine through Virgins Super Hub just fine. Frostie Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 so i run the server i log in and give the details to my friend .. he cant log in so then i give him my ip address -- he cant log in Which ip are you using or I should say what is the ip address you're giving out. If it begins with 192.168.x.x that's your router network ip then nobody will find this, many people make this mistake. "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. Mustang Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 One other thing, are both of you on 1.2.3? if one of you is still on 1.2.2 (or earlier) you won't see any servers from 1.2.3.
bladechaser Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 well i dont run windows firewall anyways so that cant be it .. i turned off my av just in case .. i did try it both through internet and lan .. and i gave out my public ip not my router id and the version im personally running is 1.2.3.9871 also jujuman .. are you going into port forwarding on the virgin hub ? and are you setting it as dmz??
