Fakum Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Thats my point, the AI is NOT using the same flight model as the human players! Us humans take a few rounds, loose fluids and then lose the plane,, the AI keeps omn truckin! And, he keeps up with you even if he is scissoring because your wingman is on his 6. VIMANAMAN Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 The AI DM does need work IMO. The player DM feels about right i.e. pretty fragile / vulnerable to hits of any kind in the wrong place (realistic from what I read anyway). I suspect this is being looked at by ED, but as we know, these things take time. I can't see ED leaving this discrepancy in realism un-addressed for any longer than they have to. I'm guessing, but I hope that's the case. If the AI become comparatively susceptible to enemy hits, and the results of those hits (within the limitations of the sim) then knocking down the AI would become a whole lots easier as well. This would help people who think the FM is to 'terminator', as ANY good hit would start to gradually degrade AI performance.

DerHesse70 Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 DerHesse, it didn't take me long to knock down the DCS AI P-51 in the quick combat mission. My guess is that you're immediately going for angles instead of building an energy advantage. Anyway, the RoF AI flies like it's drunk.:joystick: This one puts up a fight, which is good. ---------- Ah, glad to see you succeeded! Thats right. I have to change my flight technique. I started with flight sims only one year ago with ROF and i flew COD for some hours only. I have to learn that the WWII aircrafts need more speed than the WWI aircrafts in turn fighting. I always lost to much speed. :smilewink:
VIMANAMAN Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) Careful what you wish for! Hi Gavagai, I'm not sure I was clear mate, either that or I don't understand what you mean? What I'm wishing for, is to be able to reduce the AI fighting efficiency, in a realistic way, if good hits are scored. Rather than the AI performing at max efficiency, (even if its suffered multiple good hits), until suddenly a point is reached when it either surrenders or is defeated. I don't want to make it easier, it's awesome AI in my opinion! I just hope the AI DM will be developed further so hits and the effects of those hits are made more gradual and realistic (edit - & reduce fighting efficiency therefore - end edit). (Although I do think complete beginners would benefit from a easier 'lowest AI skill' setting). Edited March 27, 2013 by VIMANAMAN
Fakum Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Im not looking for an easy AI either! just looking for an even playing field as far as his planes performance when hes damaged. Regarding ED addressing it, I suppose I wouldnt be on a rant if there was actually any feedback from the ED team to address this. There is the possibility that they have and I simply have not spotted it, if anyone is aware of such a post, please attach a link. Otherwise, I have to presume its not an issue with ED that is substantial enough to resolve? What do I know? Exorcet Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 AI is still way off. I love to fly but the A/C maneuverability of the AI is way to perfect. He never makes mistakes, he always manages to out climb or out turn you and the amount of rounds I have to use to kill him is ridiculous. As I said, I love to fly but come on, he hits you a few times and boom.....!! He climbs like he has an F15 (even when I am carrying more airspeed into the climb) and turns like an SU37.....!!! Let's have an option for mistakes so that some of us less hardcore fliers can build up without leaving the game in frustration. This is unrealistic to fly against every time.....once/twice yes, but not every flight. I don't think the AI performance is that much of a problem, especially now that it seems like the P-51's engine management is less, futile than in earlier patches. You really need to fly carefully to beat the AI. The bigger problems are probably from too small a change in AI ability when changing difficulty settings, the AI being all seeing, and the AI's simplifications (the AI has very big damage advantages, though these may have been toned down too? And when it comes to stall, the AI is still ahead. It is always in control, and all the potential energy it gains in a climb is kept as it starts pulling down). It's unfortunate that multiplayer isn't as active for the P-51. Hopefully Fw-190 changes that.
