Mt5_Roie Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Anyone use virtual glasses like: http://www.vuzix.com/consumer/products_wrap_1200vr.html I'm thinking about ditching my monitor all together and get something like this that would let me immerse fully into the sim. But since they aren't cheap, I don't want to make the investement if others haven't tested it. I"m not partial to any brand since I'm just starting to research them. But I do want something with enough resolution to be able to read the dials well. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
SkateZilla Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Oculus Rift will be cheaper and have better features, ALOT better. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Mt5_Roie Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 Looks nice...but won't be released to SDK until May 2013. I guess I can put the little project on hold for a bit. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Mt5_Roie Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 That looks interesting I wonder how it would integrate with DCS games. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
Thick8 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 The pro's of an HMD: FOV, headtracking, immersion. the cons: headtracking lag, low resolution, limited game support, can't see your controls. I looked at the Sony HMZ-t2 but didn't want a 45 degree FOV and a 720p resolution. The Oculus Rift promises a neer 180 degree FOV but at an even lower resolution that the Sony. I believe 3 monitors with headtracking will be the way to go for some years to come.
