jay43
As the title says really Loving the look of the game and have pondered now for many weeks whether or not to take the plunge so I did. Trouble is I am not computer literate, and just don't know what or where all these files are supposed to go. So basically before I lose interest and dump all these files in the trash would anyone have the time to walk a complete newb through what where when and why. 159th_Viper
OK - DCS World consists of three .bin files and one .exe file. Modules consist of a single .exe file. So am I correct in assuming that you have 6 files downloaded, said files in a single folder placed on your desktop for ease of access. I also assume that you have not installed the SIM yet, yes? Edit: Forgot to add, forget about the profiles for Saitek and FTNOIR at the moment - get the SIM working first. Saitek profiles are loaded via Saitek software IIRC and as a consequence not loaded into the SIM in any event. At a closer look, not much has changed really since the zx81 - it's still just about ones and zeroes ... Heh, but trying to be a bit more helpfull ... I understand that you have installed the DCS World software and also installed the DCS A-10C? So, help me/us to help you and explain a bit more where you have problems or difficulties. Also, have you browsed through the manuals already? The Quick Start Manual and the DCS World manual as a start - and later then, when you feel more comfortable with the software in general, the A-10C manual? Do you want me to link you to the correct files you need to download or are you happy enough that you have the correct files? Don't forget the temp folder in appdata (normally hidden) That may help get rid of other leftovers. Honestly OP- I'd go and just grab the single torrent file from the main ED site. Plenty of people should still be seeding it so you should be able to download it pretty quickly. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. 159th_Viper
Files to be downloaded: World - http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world_english/? (4 files, one .exe and 3 .bin) A-10C - http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/modules/dcs_a10c_warthog_english/? (1 .exe file) Black Shark - http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/modules/dcs_black_shark_2_english/? (1 .exe file) 1 - Download these 6 files and place in a folder on your desktop. 2 - In your main directory, make a new folder named 'Flight Simulations' (reason is that when you install, you install in a place other than the default path which normally leads to your Programs folder - see attached screenshot of my setup). 3 - Open the folder on your desktop and run the World .exe file. When prompted where to install, navigate to your new folder you made (Flight Simulations) and install DCS World to there. Allow installation to complete. 4 - At end of installation, untick the boxes that prompt you to run the SIM/read the read-me. 5 - Once World is installed, run the A-10C .exe file. Will install automatically to the DCS World folder. 6 - Do the same for the Black Shark 2 .exe 7 - Once installed, run the SIM to create the new Saved Games folder. That is it for the installation process. After you installed, run a few missions to see if everything is in order. If no issues, we can move on to configuring your Flight-stick and peripherals. 159th_Viper
Oh yes forgot to add: When you first run the SIM chances are that you'll experience your Flightstick and throttle doing funky things, ie not working correctly at all, wrong inputs etc etc. This is quite normal as there are possible axis conflicts/erroneous mappings after an install which needs to be rectified in the options menu In-SIM. As said, I/we will talk you through all that after the install process is complete. At first run of the SIM, just utilize the keyboard for a quick check that all is well/running as it should. 159th_Viper
Ok here goes then Another question would you recommend track ir over FTNOIR Without a shadow of a doubt. I cannot compare the two as I have only had TrackIr, but for simple ease of use (plug and play) as well as modability/profiling I cannot see anything beating TrackIr. I'm disappearing now for the night but if you have any other questions/install issues just post and I'll answer on the morrow if nobody else has dealt with it in the interim.
