Recently I noticed that cold start hogs in one of my missions doesn't have the laser code set- it's just 0000.

I have tried setting it to 1688 but it doesn't resolve the issue. I am able to drop but then get an instant "auto lase fail" message.

Also seemed there was an A0 blinking notfication at the base of the right mfcd while tgp is displayed.

Is this a bug of some sort or was a new level of authenticity introduced requiring the laser be configured. If so- I guess I can find instructions in the manual.

Nope, there are times when you will have to set the laser code for the bombs manually. I forget the expact parameters when it happens.

You'll need to ensure that you give the bomb a laser code through the DMS page and then on your TGP. You should be good to go after that.

If you want to use 1688, on your TGP, laser code has to be 1688. And in your DSMS page, go to INV page, then select the type of bomb (I guess CBU then CBU-12 or CBU-10) and put 1688 as laser code there as well, and save changes.

The laser code does not have to be 1688 at all. It can be any valid code and it'll work fine, provided both the TGP laser and the bomb are set to the same code.

Codes from 1111 to 1688 are valid. The first digit must be 1, the second 1-6, and the third and forth 1-8.

Well yeah I answered to what he said about 1688 if he wants to use this since it's the default one, but as you explained it can be changed.

No actually it'a on a newer mission that worked fine up until recently. The only thing I changed on these particular aircraft that are affected was I moved them from one parking stall to another on the other side of the runway
