MSFFB2 fps drop

Greetings,

 

I emailed tech support about this bug on the 26th but haven't heard any response. Here was the original thread:

Basically, enabling ffb with the MSFFB2 drops my framerate by about 20fps. The frame rate drop occurs about a minute after spawning in the air, or after I turn on the engine from a cold start. Strangely enough, there is no fps drop while the instructor is talking during a training mission. For example, during the K14 training mission, the instructor comments while you shoot down 2 P-51s. During the combat fps remained high, but as soon as the instructor went away, fps dropped.

 

Over all, ffb has been done incredibly well in this sim. If someone knows how I might fix this issue, please let me know! Thanks.

Have you tested your MSFFB2, Viper? This bug was reported to be fixed for the next patch or we'll have to buy another joystick? I hope not:noexpression:

Also, you blocked your FPS to 30, right? I think this could solve my problem since my FPS with FFB ON drops from 60 to 30.

I'm confused. Viper's screen shots show 30 fps.

The point is that there is no significant drop in FPS a minute or so into the SIM as was alleged with FFB enabled.

 

I'll uncap the FPS and look again, this time with and without FFB.

Please, I'm not trying to be difficult, but I could repeat your negative result if I capped my fps at 30.

 

Also, there are more people than just Griffon and I who have this bug. I've talked with some via PM, but they seem shy to post about it.

I misunderstood the original issue as I understood it to be that FFB tanked your FPS to such an extent as to make it unplayable, hence my neglect in removing the FPS cap - over 30 not really needed for fluid gameplay but that's besides the point.

Man, now what? Should we make a clean installation of DCS World and FC3? I don't want to use my Precision Pro 2 anymore :P

 

Perhaps, the Force Feedback option uses more resources, I don't know, everything is possible right now.:huh: But I think that my computer can handle without any problem.

 

I got the first version of MSFFB2 (Silver buttons), what version do you have, Viper? Maybe a driver problem?:noexpression:

Give me a few hours to install your version - that will confirm 100% whether it is indeed a 1.2.3. issue now fixed in 1.2.4. If so, wait for update. If not, well then, a reinstall would be the first port-of-call.

Did you maneuver at all during your test? I find that if I just hold straight and level after spawning it delays the fps drop.

 

If the fps drop is gone in 1.2.4, then that's great news!

First I heard of that in this thread. You see, that is why it's important to mention as much info as possible in the initial report - saves time and energy :)

If you could, please just run the same mission, ie Free-Flight over Poti. Spawn and fly up the coast at spawn altitude.

Yes, that's what I did. I flew up the coast, straight and level, got to 5 minutes without the fps drop. Just to see, I did a *very* gentle 360 degree turn to the original heading, and fps remained stable. Then, I pulled a little bit more AoA and the fps drop happened immediately.

 

On the other hand, if I maneuver and pull significant AoA immediately after spawning, the fps drop does not happen right away.

I'm having the same issue with FFB2, I disabled it so i get more FPS :/

 

For me it is happening right after I start taxing, when the engine is off the FPS is fine, right after engine is on and starting to taxi the fps drops by 20 frames, when the FFB is off the FPS stays high.

 

edit - tested in MP.

OK - got it now. I get a 100% drop in FPS (70-35).

 

Will confirm once reported.

 

Edit: Is this exclusive to the P-51?

BTW - I gave notice about this issue in like 2 diffrent threads but never got someone to report to ED, is there a good place to report bugs?
