Maverick_ Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Is it best to drop a CBU in CCIP or CCRP, or does it not really matter? I prefer to drop in CCRP because I feel it is more accurate but does the flight profile affect the effectiveness? Just wondering if someone out there has some advice. wess24m Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Both are possible, make sure that if you're dropping in CCIP that you set your min alt in your profile to above the HOF of your CBU. Of course CBU 105/103 should be dropped in CCRP because of having to set the ins/GPS information prior to release.
_Heater_ Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I prefer the CCIP for many reasons. In the INV (Inventory Page) I set the Height of Function (HOF) for a low altitude attack. I use the CCRP for a medium altitude attack as well. Maverick_ Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Thanks for the advice, I just find I have a harder time with accuracy in CCIP, but then when I drop CCRP I feel like my spread is too large, is it more of a HOF issue then? I find this the most when using CBU-97's on tank formations/columns Specs: 1tb HDD AMD FX-6300 16gb DDR3 Nvidia GTX-1070 Oculus CV1

I find this the most when using CBU-97's on tank formations/columns Yeah that's mostly a HOF problem. With CBU 97's spread doesn't matter too much because the bomblets guide themselves to the target and it only takes 1-2 hits to kill a tank. Because of the way the 97 works the reticle will often be way below the hud. I use 3/9 mode on CCIP so I don't have to dive as steeply to deliver the bomb.
NhiTrac Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Slight hijacking: does DES TOF have any effect on the cbus? Changing the values between min and max doesn't seem to have any effect. Tizid Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I prefer to use CBU's in CCRP. No problem for me to destroy light vehicles with CBU's this way. But The JTAC often wants me to use CBU's against strong armored vehicles like the T72. After dropping i can see the small explosions just a few meters away or "on" the tanks, but it never seems to hurt them. However that doesn't depend on the delivery mode. Please excuse my bad english.

No, DES TOF dont have any impact on the bomb itself. At least not as far as i know. What DES TOF does for you, is making a horizontal line over your PIBL line showing the value of the desired time of fall you have set. That means that if you set 7 seconds in DES TOF, your gonna get a line across your PIBL line (similar to the min alt line) showing where you need to drop the bomb if you want it to fall for 7 second before hitting the ground. Hope im not completley off here, and hope that helped.
