klatu Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Howdy all, My question, does this engine behavior reflect actual aircraft operation? Given ED's great attention to detail for this sim I assume it does. It usually takes about 20 seconds of holding 1.0g inverted flight to make this happen. Dosen't this present a problem with Airshow type maneuvers? I have been able to recover with airstarts in all cases . . . . just curious if this is an SU-25 engine characeristic or a low-order program bug. Any comments from the gallery? cheers, klatu-out
GGTharos Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 You're holding -1g, not 1g. The fuel ends up at the 'top' of the fuel tanks and can no longer be gravity fed to the engines. This is likely common to many aircraft. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Ironhand Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I had a somewhat similar Q back in May. Yellonet Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I don't mean to hijack the thread but another cool thing with the 'T' is that you get engine fire if you start the engines with some throttle. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted December 16, 2005 ED Team Posted December 16, 2005 Can you blame it, it's just trying to be a "wanna-be" afterburner plane :D https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
klatu Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 Thanks to all for the responses . . ...and thanks to Ironhand for the link to that great thread on the subject...I should have researched the subject before posting . . . klatu-out
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I don't mean to hijack the thread but another cool thing with the 'T' is that you get engine fire if you start the engines with some throttle. no, you flood the engines, and have to wait for the engines to unflood before you can restart them, or if you start engines singley, and only flood one, then you can do a rolling start with the other and force the flooded one to start spinning as you go along the runway. Never ever had it catch fire with full throttle on startup.
Yellonet Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 you flood the enginesI understand that... Never ever had it catch fire with full throttle on startup.Really... happened to me twice, and I think I can do it again ;) i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 well, never ever happened to me, not saying it cant happen, but i normally have throttle set to full, and i start engines without checking, and it just stops at 2 on the needle, and never catches fire. 25t is basically all i fly, and if it has happened to me i honestly cant remember. what i do remember is it stops at 2 on the needle and thats it.

I think you need to leave it like that for a little while. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Guest ruggbutt Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Yep, they'll catch fire. Set your throttle about half and fire up the engines, or advance the throttle before they're at idle.
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 i believe ya's, its just with all the time i flood the engines on the 25t, it has never ever caught fire with me, all that happens is that it just sits at 2 on the needle, saying that tho, as soon as i realise which is pretty quick that i have not idle'd the throttle before startup, i shutdown. maybe a max of about 10-20 seconds of starting up and realising. maybe if i left it like that for longer it would catch fire, normally i use my throttle as an arm rest and its set at full throttle before i startup. watch this, i will do it today and it will catch fire straight away :D I WANT IT TO CATCH FIRE NOW, I FEEL AS THO I BEING RIPPED OFF :(
