racketyjack Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I appreciate all the training missions for many of the aircraft ingame. But one thing I would love to see is having an actual training aircraft. Say, a PT-17 or a T-6 Texan. You know, earn your wings before you move on to something more dramatic. Of course, nearly all our aircraft are jets with a very few exceptions. But wouldnt it be nice for most of us who arent pilots to actually learn all the basics just the way they used to, and still do. Just a thought. :joystick::pilotfly:
Pnume Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) I would love a PT-17 but only for the sake of having a biplane in DCS. Training aircrafts exist IRL because it is more cost effective to train a pilote with a cheaper to buy, to maintain and refuel aircraft rather than go straight to the race horse. You need 2 seats too. There is no point on a computer. Edited May 19, 2013 by Pnume
skouras Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 they should making those instead of WWII planes:D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]W10(64bit)Asus Rog Strix Z370-F - i7 8700K - Dark Rock Pro 4 - 16 giga ram Corsair vengeance 3000 - MSI RTX 2070 Super - Asus Rog Phobeus soundcard - Z906 Surround speaker - Track ir5 - HOTAS Warthog
Blaze Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 That was another reason behind us developing DCS: L-39. :) i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. howie87 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Learn to fly the mustang! Now that aircraft is a handful... Will be great having the L-39 and BAE Hawk though. They'll make a good stepping stone to real fast jets. 1

You need 2 seats too. There is no point on a computer. It wouldnt be a big problem methinks. The Huey has a second crewmember and the voice acting part is easy enough to provide. So an instructer in the other seat wouldnt be a prblem. It would be kinda neat to "earn" your wings in the pilot award section. Maybe even a little presentation screen once youve completed the training missions. Kinda like what they used to do in older games. Blaze, glad to hear about the L-39. It of course is an appropriate training aircraft for the jets. Did the US and Great Britain use it as a trainer?
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Nope, that's an Eastern Bloc aircraft mostly :) But UK will get a Hawk T1 (VEAO), and US will get a T-2 Buckeye (RAZBAM, naval jet trainer).
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'd love to see a basic trainer implemented though, like a Tucano (either EMBRAER or Short version), Pilatus or something of the likes, perhaps even something simpler just for very elementary training. All those aircraft are advanced jet trainers, it'd be fun to get something a little more elementary. Not to mention that the Tucano in particular is very maneuverable and seems pretty joyful to fly (see here, lomcevak spinning three times: )

Especially with an AFM that models P factor, torque, spiraling slipstream, etc. Maybe someone can model the PT6A-68 variants and so more than one. 6700K@4.6 48Gb - 1080Ti Hybrid - Warthog - RIFT
