  1. WOW! Thanks for the info cichlidfan. Guess I'll be doing some reading to get caught back up.
  2. What happened to the Mig-21? I haven't been here in awhile and noticed the Mig-21 project isn't there anymore. What happened?
  3. I would LOVE to see a simple, easy to fly aircraft in this game. Perhaps it could have a basic flight training campaign to go with it. Maybe this plane? http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/couple-sells-vintage-1946-airplane-garage-sale-165641527.html?vp=1 Hint, hint, wink, wink.
  4. It wouldnt be a big problem methinks. The Huey has a second crewmember and the voice acting part is easy enough to provide. So an instructer in the other seat wouldnt be a prblem. It would be kinda neat to "earn" your wings in the pilot award section. Maybe even a little presentation screen once youve completed the training missions. Kinda like what they used to do in older games. Blaze, glad to hear about the L-39. It of course is an appropriate training aircraft for the jets. Did the US and Great Britain use it as a trainer?
  5. I appreciate all the training missions for many of the aircraft ingame. But one thing I would love to see is having an actual training aircraft. Say, a PT-17 or a T-6 Texan. You know, earn your wings before you move on to something more dramatic. Of course, nearly all our aircraft are jets with a very few exceptions. But wouldnt it be nice for most of us who arent pilots to actually learn all the basics just the way they used to, and still do. Just a thought. :joystick::pilotfly:
  6. Was flabbergasted when I saw the price drop. So, red lights and sirens on! Wife had no argument I couldnt overcome with a simple, "Its on sale Hon!" All women understand that. So, downloading now. Thank you ED!
  7. I think they work fine for those of us who dont need every switch modeled. Enjoyed the daylights figuring out how to use the F-15 radar and finally nailing an Russian AWACS. Now on to things that shoot back...Thanks again ED.
  8. Lol, love it when I miss the obvious. My bad. This was only a drill...
  9. A couple ideas I wanted to fly at ED... 1.) Consider please a forum specific to FC3 like the other modules for DCS. That way I dont have to look thru out the ED forums for posts related to FC3. 2.) In the game settings for controllers, instead of listing all the adjustments you can make alphabetically, how about arranging them by what they do. For instance have a section for weapons, one for navigating, another for communication, one for views, and so forth. Just a couple ideas that might save a little time and effort for us non-real life pilots.
  10. Difficult time seeing the HUD. I know Im getting old but Ive never had such a difficult time seeing the F-15 HUD in a sim before. My monitor is at 1280X1024X32. Anyway to make it more readable? Maybe larger fonts or whatever?
  11. Sorry, just realized I put it in wrong forum...
  12. ...in DCS world with FC3 while flying the F-15C. This is what windows told me... Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Launcher.exe_DCS Application Version: 1.2.2.7122 Application Timestamp: 508f775a Fault Module Name: atiumd6a.dll Fault Module Version: 8.14.10.363 Fault Module Timestamp: 4fd6222a Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00000000000018c0 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: dc20 Additional Information 2: dc204d46180fba38c9522ad89215f96e Additional Information 3: 8a8a Additional Information 4: 8a8a8cb20379aadd2b94d39f899008bc Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt I had already played several rounds of a simple mission I was putting together in the editor just to familiarize myself with it. My specs are: AMD PhenomIIX4 965 @ 3.4ghz 8GB DDR3 1600 RAM Radeon 5670 w/1GB DDR5 VRAM Sound Blaster Audigy ZS All latest drivers. Also noticed wheels on F-15 dont turn on runway.
  13. Ok, got it working. The 720p isnt terrible, but it certainly is not optimal. Running a res at 1280X720X32. Is is on the desk in front of me OVER arms length away and I can still feel the strain on my eyes. I would like to tune down the brightness a bit but I found I brought the wrong controller home with me. It was the cable company controller and not the TV's. Whoops... so, still got a bit of tweaking to do before I decide to keep this. My 1280X1024 19inch worked perfectly well and looked good to boot. I did notice in DCS world that the exit button no longer lights up so I have to cntrl/alt/del to get out of the game. Not sure what is going on there. Tried several different video settings to no avail. I do have a question though. Is there anyway to disable to HDMI input sound in the TV and use the Sound Blaster card and headphones I was using before? Thank you fellas for all the input, much appreciated. Ok, got the sound issue figured out in the control panel.
  14. I know next to nothing about stall data and all that. But I did hear that the P-51 had a tendancy to stall on takeoff with a full tank behind the pilot. I gather the wieght of the fuel threw off the center of gravity or something. I heard that new pilots really had an issue with this in the early days employing the Mustang. Is this true? Is it modeled. Sorry if this is offtopic. PS. Interesting article CaptSmiley, I just learned something about airfoils.
  15. Ive been fine but a wee bit busy with work. Always liked Lockon so decided to load it up again and found this website and the rest is history. Now cant wait to see FC3. That mustang is looking pretty righteous too. They come out with an opponent for it and I think I will have found the replacements for SF2 and IL2. ;)
  16. Gee, I think Ive known USAFMTL probably 10 years online at Combatace. He knows me there as pcpilot. He's a good man to have on the job. How ya doin Dave? My buddies at the ranch gave me a new nickname hence the new moniker...:D
  17. Ya know what Id also like to see? How about an L-4 Grasshopper? The trusty J-3 cub. To me, that just defines why we get into flying. Sure it aint a fighter or bomber. Its just a puttputt basically. Use it as a FAC or scout, fire smoke, and dodge flak and fighters...hey maybe Im a little crazy but it sounds cool to me. :D
  18. Not sure but Id think an A-bomb going off in our Georgia map would blow most of it to smitherines. I'll pass on the nukes. Gimme a Messerschimdt...:pilotfly:
  19. Yes...yes indeed! (to all the above...;) ):)
  20. Id love to see one each of the super powers. Say the ME-109 or FW-190 for the Germans. A zero or Jack for the Japanese, a spitfire for the Brits, and a cool yak for the Sovs. An English Channel map and a Pacific island map and we are in business Baby! :pilotfly::thumbup:
  21. I love you guys ingenuity, just awesome.
  22. Thanks guys for the replies. The TV does have a 9ms response time so I'll see how that works. I think I'll give it a try this weekend and see what happens. Really liked that one setup with the TV for the cockpit and the monitor for the instruments. My wife said that wasnt happening in our den though...
  23. Anyone here using a tv for a PC monitor? I just aquired a Panasonic 26 inch 720p LCD TV. It has hdmi inputs as does my video card so that isnt a problem. Im curently using a NEC 19 inch monitor at 1280 X 1024 resolution. Would the TV be any better?
